Print Manager Plus Version 7

We currently use PMP6, however not very well and I'm currently investigating what more we can get out of it to help reduce our print costs. I've read on other threads how people are restricting what students/staff print. I downloaded one of the PMP agents, the workstation connected printer agent on demo license to look at, as we have a lot of local printers. Now Software shelf are on my back to upgrade to V7 as our maintenance has expired. Does anyone know if there are any advantages of upgrading? They gave me a quote of £360 but I don't want to be it if everything I want to do is in V6.

I didn't know V7 was out yet, I have maintance still on mine and haven;t had a notification that were up to V7 yet....

PMP 6 does everything i need it too at the moment

I am on v7.

I've had problems in the past with certain printers being mis-audited so I like to keep on the latest version as they are very good (IMO) at creating patches to rectify problems like this.

 

We contra charge each dept. for every print the staff do @5p a copy.

 

We have strict quotas on students that are non-negotiable. There options if they run out are, print at home, get another student to print it, get their teacher to print it, wait until their credit is replenished.

 

Our quotas are: (all 5p per print)

 

7-9 - £0.30 per week

10-11 £4.00 per month

12-13 £8.00 per month

I like the sound of non negotiable quotas ! I am forever topping up print credits here.. though our credits are similar to yours maybe a bit more generous.

 

How did you get those in charge / SLT to agree to that!?

I need to invest in Print Management software when the new budget roles in. I've used PMP before and it was fine, but at £360 it's a bit pricey! Does any one know of any good cheaper (or free) alternatives?

I give them £5 for a term all years, staff get £20 for a month on auto-reset, may think about asking bout re-charging back to them as my budgets shrinking rapidly and print costs are going up and up and up as ever!
