Here is the latest for London and the South East: Link It doesn't stop there though. The 'warning alert level' for the rest of the country on Monday and Tuesday is 'Be prepared' with only one more level above that one which is 'Take action' Link for current UK weather warnings [snow] Link I think there might be some school closures tomorrow: Suits me fine because I can get more done without Students and Staff getting under my feet!

maniac Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 About 1cm settled snow here in canterbury, nothing too bad it keeps snowing hard for about half hour, then clears up for a bit. I get the feeling it's going to snow a lot more overnight, so here's hoping!

kmount Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Flying from Birmingham, flight leaves at 6am, doesn't look too terrible yet. BBC reckons "Light snow" until beyond 12 noon.

The journey to work has been awful the past couple of times it snows....i catch 2 buses and birmingham grinds to a halt if the weather is a bit iffy! It would be nice, got loads i could do at home!

Not just me that rates metcheck then. They rekon 100% chance of snow between 12:00am and 6:00am so finger crossed for waking up with a good covering

Crispin Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 Not just me that rates metcheck then. Metcheck never fails. BBC Weather is a joke imo, never seems to be right. Oh and don't get me started on their use of screenwalls. All I can concentrate on is the huge difference between each screens colour and the massive grid line effect. Is it sad that I actually made an official complaint on their website about that? I think I know the answer already..

According to The Met Office website I am watching North West England has a 'Be prepared' alert issued also. Although the snow warning for your area seems only to apply to higher ground. The warning seems to be more about the cold. For what it is worth here is the current warning for your area: Link Time now: 17:48. We have fairly heavy snow and it is settling. Although it is falling heavily at the moment based on what I see out the window at the moment it should not present a problem tomorrow.... Secondary update: Time now: 18:50. Snow has stopped falling and it has left a light dusting. Not good for what I want so far.... Edited February 1, 2009 by 6Foot2 Att detail to the post.

We drove home from Bluewater in a blizzard about 1pm, but our town had virtually nothing when we got here. We can now almost not see the grass, which for West Kent is quite a lot of snow, and it will probably paralise everything tomorrow. Living only 5 minutes walk from my school, I'm part of the emergency team and will be in come what may tomorrow. We could have very few students with any luck!

Edu-IT Posted February 1, 2009 Posted February 1, 2009 The snow is settling well in Kent, I'm told. If it's there in the morning then I'm not sure trains are going to be much quicker.
