Just a quick question to everyone... Does anybody on the forums currently work for Ramesys or has worked for them in the past?

The reason I ask is that I have just this morning attended an interview for a position as a fixed onsite support technician at a BSF site in Greater Manchester.

I was wondering if anyone has any positive (or even negative) feedback on what it is like to work for Ramesys in this kind of role?

Cheers chaps,

Andy

I was sub-contracted to Ramesys to do a network install in Grimsby, I had a project manager who i met on the first day, we made up a project time table, then i didnt see him again untill the last day when i handed the network over as being complete.

I did 3 weeks Install/Migration & 1 week bug/fine tuning.

Cheers guys - Anyone else with any experience of working with/for Ramesys?

Basically I'm trying to gather some 'additional' first hand research on the company, should I get offered the position I really need to know as much as possible before accepting.

Interesting to hear about the MS investigation Dafty... Hmmm!

Not worked for them but we certainly purchase software licenses from them and they seem very good value on that front.

I'll second that!

I heard on the grape vine today that Ramesys Licensing was being investigated for fraud by Microsoft!?

Very strange. I heard dodgy things about how they sell licenses before but since then have asked MS licensing questions and been pointed at Ramesys..plus they're on the MS website for Education supplying.

Well all I know at the moment is Ramesys dont send out the original CD's but a copy with there branding. Someone also said it was a possibility that they had a massive volume license type thing to resell, but never registered half of them with Microsoft.

Hence the stupidly cheap prices!!

There's rumours about all suppliers if you look for them.

They sell own branded media this is true, because it's cheaper than the MS Originals and I've only ever heard good things about them.

Without proof though I'm not convinced.

It's very possible, many OEMs do this to 'brand' Windows installations and is perfectly legal. As for licensing, that's a matter for Microsoft to investigate :)

Well I was told it made headline press but I haven't had the time to look into it. We still buy our MS licenses from them.

Working for them I'd imagine is OK, being a BSF school under them I imagine not so.

If you want any other info feel free to PM

Indeed, our current license supplier ships branded CD's.

My other half worked for Ramesys when it was both Construction and Education sector. Since the split she works for the construction half of the company, however when it was Ramesys, she complained that the majority of staff knew nothing and were effectively working on a shoestring. The licences were a key thing for them, and yes they are getting investigated for fraud.

Thanks for the good feedback nephilim :biggrin1:

Hi All,

New to this forum Hello!

I work for Ramesys, I joined in 1990 and worked in maintenance & technical roles until 2003. I left and joined another reseller because I wanted to work in the finance market place in London (Ramesys don't do business here) after 3 years away I rejoined Ramesys and worked in Managed Services and Project Services. I'm still working in Ramesys now and am happy to take any questions you may have especially if you are thinking of joining the business! I have registered tonight after seeing a Google alert on this thread and wanted to participate.

One thing that has always impressed me about Ramesys is the people I work with, very supportive and focussed on what we do.

Any questions on Ramesys I will answer as soon as I can from my experience!

On the licensing issue: have previously purchased single copies (or 1-5) of software that arrive with no license and when we asked were just giving a Volume Key to use.

Luckily we were honest, but you can see how it could easily be abused.
