Web_Help_Desk_Supportster Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 Hi I was just wondering, when you stopped and started Web Help Desk, did you do this via the services or via the start menu options assuming you are on a windows machine? When it starts in the CMD window it should say Web Help Desk is starting Port 8081 is available. If the cmd just flashes away then the port it being used by something else. Please let us know what you see. Regards Andy
JG2Springer Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 ok.. so I guess I spoke too soon.. I had to bring the old server back up so that we could view some FAQs.. now I have reverted back to the new VMWare server.. and the original 404 error is back... I ran the stop and start bat files from the command prompt (previously I just stopped/started the service) and the cmd doesnt just flash away I get the port 8081 is available.
Web_Help_Desk_Supportster Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 JG2Springer, Once you have Web Help Desk started via the start menu links and you go to the following link http://localhost:8081 on the server itself what do you get? Do you see a java process running and if so what resources is it using? Regards Andy
JG2Springer Posted July 13, 2011 Posted July 13, 2011 the web page flashes for a sec then it goes tot the 404 error page. java.exe and jqs.exe are the only things I see running
