Was it a case of capturing the package on a clean machine and using software to turn it into an MSI? 2. In relation, I've been offered some money in school to purchase software for running the network. I've heard some good things about Acresso Admin Studio - is this any good? Especially interested in the re-packaging options the software provides. Many thanks Gareth

Real Alternative is almost certainly not legal - if you do install it and look at the DLLs you'll see that the ones for the Real codec are copyright Real Networks. The only proper way to install Real Player in a school is to buy (at big cost!) the Enterprise Version.

GJE Just give them a link to their temp directory. They wont be named but they can pick them out because of the icons and rename them.

I can't see anything on the site to say it's free for education - only details of how to contact a sales rep. I have done that in the past and was quoted a silly price. It is possible that Real have changed their policy - do you have any links to something on their site which says that it's free for schools?
gshaw Posted November 24, 2008 Posted November 24, 2008 Only problem with Real Alternative is it won't play embedded videos using the plugin Hate RealPlayer with a vengeance, crapware at its finest (worst?). Shame BBC still have it as their format for certain iPlayer and Internet Radio shows
