what else do you not allow students to save in their H:\ drives without explaining why it's needed?

Depends on the school, we have them blocked here and they have never been needed.

 

Also might be worth blocking videos.

MSI, CMD, OCX, DLL, COM (old, but at least we're covered).

 

Basically anything exe'in related.

 

We do keep an eye on MP3 and AVI (and MPEG and MPG) usage, but we dont blindly delete them for the reason jcollings posted.

 

Sadly we cant delete SWF's (not blindly anyway) as we do the DiDA course and the kids use alot of flash buttons :(
