Remove links to "my Recent Documents"

Can someone tell me how to remove any links to "My Recent Documents"? Ie, remove any signs of it even from when you click on File > Open.

depending on which start menu you use

 

Right click on start, click properties, click customize, then theres a clear button in there

If you mean from Explorer windows (as shown) the free Powertool TweakUI lets you set custom places (Common Dialogues - Places Bar) - assuming you're using XP. Yet to find something as useful/free as that for Vista.

Thanks, but it doenst work. You will need to configure it for every user that logs in.

Can't you configure one profile and copy it to "default user"?

There are three policies:

 

User Config > Admin Templates > Start Menu and Taskbar

 

Remove Documents from menu from Start Menu - Enabled

 

Do not keep history of recently opened documents - Enabled

 

Clear history of recently opened documents on exit - Enabled

 

This should do the trick

 

In Office, by default it shows the last four documents you worked on. If want to tweak policies to do with Office, you need to download Ork Tools.
