webman Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 What will their "trusted computing" actually be/do in the future, and what plans do they have for integration with open source systems such as Linux.

webman Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Oh, well I'm not that interested in their actual products/services, I guess I should leave that to the Microsofties Though I can imagine a lot of us want to know about the so-called "Learning Gateway" of theirs.

crc-ict Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Definately Vista, I think. No, seriously I feel it's going to be a (potential) evil that we're not going to be able to avoid and it'd be good to see and hear about it 'from the horses mouth' so to speak rather than the hype and misinformation prevalent online and in the press. I know a lot of people have a downer on Vista already, but personally I don't feel well enough informed to make that judgement. It would also be interesting to hear about what's going to be new in Office 12
NetworkGeezer Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 How about using IPSec for quarantine segments. I read somewhere that at Microsoft they they had so that you couldn't conenct any device to the network unless it had latests and OS updates. Apprently this was all automatic.
russdev Posted April 3, 2006 Author Posted April 3, 2006 on serious not remeber we got Nick from Microsoft doing talk on vista at conference so maybe something like "preparing the vista" maybe something on office 12 and major differences etc what else
alan-d Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 A lot of posts ask for info on RIS and MSIs - so maybe a combined lecture on how to do and hints & tips, may also include other uses for GPOs other than the obvious and basic? Probably not as technical as some would like but not all school technicians have years of experience. just a thought
russdev Posted April 3, 2006 Author Posted April 3, 2006 no sounds good want to try and pick few subjects basicly a day thing but plan is two run it twice as we expect lot of people wanting to come when we reveal the details... Russ

I'll second that. That would be excellent. Probably not as technical as some would like but not all school technicians have years of experience. Absolutely. Well said! I'm intrigued - we've not got Bill Gates coming to talk to us have we?!! Sounds exciting though!
