Afternoon - just wondering what people have on their digital signage in the school reception area. It could be the first thing people see.

Just looking for ideas.

Been having same issues since 2013 with any of these... Tried similar. Until it all goes out of date and then.....

Some decent photos. Upcoming events. Merits/awards. A bit of branding and similar. We also show our currently running clubs and activities.

What to put...

NOBODY is interested... until something on there makes them look bad, or achieve their own PMR goals to some degree or make them as SLT / individual SLT look good

NOBODY wants to put it on there and do the work as they don't get paid extra for it,

As it involves a computer, it somehow ends up becoming IT's job to do it.

Yet I wonder if as a displayboard has rawl plugs and screws, they can turn around and say it's site team job to update the display board.

Displays come under reprographics and so should the TV's/content management.

Oh, I agree. I don’t produce content for it, other than some filler. The content we were putting on quietly got shelved as it was a lot of work to produce!

it may be something that ICT or Media students can do as classwork?

The screen directly behind reception just has a couple of our promo videos on loop, "Welcome to (schoolname)" at the top and the date at the bottom. (We used to pull the school's Twitter feed into a ticker across the bottom, but the RSS broke so we removed it.) It looks professional enough, it's GDPR/safeguarding compliant, and it doesn't need updating that often.

Further into the foyer, we have one of the main "school news" screens which roll clubs, notices, student awards, this week's canteen menu, etc. (We have pretty good staff engagement with creating content, and us and a couple of other staff know how to push new slides to the news feed.)

The person who is responsible for marketing creates screen message here. Announcements for trips, golden ticket winners, adverts for open evenings (external events). Photos of big events. Food menus, clubs, student council messages, other general announcements. Safe guarding team and who they are slide.

Not everything is on the screens all the time somethings can be on for a few hrs in the morning.

we also put reminders of the school lunch times as we have split lunches/break times u til the kids get used to it.

some of it is a simple message based upon a template others might have a little bit of graphic design work applied to make them nicer.

we also have no clocks in the building so other than computers they are getting glanced at all day long for the time!

We use Trilby and the IT teams involvement is installing the app on the screens.

We have a communications and marketing team who take care of the in school screens. Most of the stuff shown is also put on our socials and newsletters.

Currently on a loop on our screens

Permenant: A school logo page, school day timings, list of safeguarding team inc photos, Canteen menu, info about recycle bins, the latest post from our instagram feed.

Temporary: Info about our local towns art book benches. Info about up coming culture day, info about a reading challenge.

We had, at various points:

- An "art gallery" (just a powerpoint) of student artwork set in little frames that rotated.

- A few snips and school statement from our website.

- Menu occasionally.

- School council statements/key issues/projects.

- Exciting things coming up this term.

- The day before a school holiday it'd just swap out for a little animated thing with "Have a super break! Students return on Monday Xth of %month%" and I'd put a little sprig of holly on it or some snowfall and a winter scene or Santa or something. If it was summer.
