Printing Exam Scripts with follow on printing

Recommended Posts

So we are moving to follow on printing and finally getting rid of the majority of the 55 printers that we have.

The plan is not to have printers in the IT suits.

The Exam Officer has got wind of the plan and is in a flap.  We do a few exams for SEND pupils using ExamPro and on completion they print the scripts (X2) and the student then signs each page.

Anyone do something similar without the printer in the exam room and how does the Exam people handle it?

We don't have printing in IT suites usually, however it is similar for our computer science. We just put a printer in the room for the exam and map it via a powershell script. The followme is then the backup option. Works well.

Its not the technical setup its the physical.  If there is no printer in the room and you have follow on printing what do you do about printing the exam scripts during the exam.

The students are taken to the printer where the job is released - not sure I understand your question 😕

exam_user1, exam_user2 etc...

One single "invigilator" account with delegated release setup for exam_users.

Invigilator goes (with or without pupils) to printer and uses their account to release all the jobs.

That was a reply to Andy_B :)

As its SEND, pupils finish at different times but I'm pushing for the invigilator (one of two in the room) to go and release/collect the jobs for signing.  I want to resist having a special 'exams' printer before that escalates to a 'special' pastoral printer and a 'special' KS3 office printer.

Here we get the student to save it on a USB (they use laptops) and they're then escorted back to my office (Data & Exam Manager) where I can print it and collect it for them to then sign every page.

The only exam for which printers are necessary for us within the IT suite themselves is A Level Computer Science Paper 1 (coding), due the entire test being required to be on computer. Otherwise it's laptops + USBs + me printing on their behalf for everyone.
