Lister Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) Just noticed this on reddit this morning, HPE appear to be changing the warranty for their Aruba networking products to End of sale + 5 years, including those like the ProCurve switches previously on lifetime warranty's. Below link has the full list of products affected. Product Warranty Update for HPE Networking Products Quote To simplify and standardize our warranty experience, effective January 15, 2027, all HPE Aruba Networking products currently covered by the HPE Lifetime Warranty (LTW) will move to a Limited Lifetime Warranty (LLTW), aligning warranty models across the HPE Networking portfolio. Limited Lifetime Warranty (LLTW) Warranty duration Limited Lifetime Warranty1 (EOS + 5 years) Hardware replacement Next Business Day shipment 8x5 TAC Product conformance (break/fix) for warranty period We've been slowly moving away from Procurve switches as budget allows but not looking forward to potentially looking at replacing our "Core" switches Edited July 22 by Lister
synaesthesia Posted July 23 Posted July 23 Not a huge shock - I can't imagine they're too happy trying to prop up some devices which just keep on kicking particularly for schools and places where budgets don't allow for much more than "if it's not broke, don't fix it". Still, I won't be chucking out my spare 5600zl2 just yet!
psydii Posted July 23 Posted July 23 i do think that perhaps EOS + 10 years for edu:K12 would have been better. as it stands they now can’t compete if the customer requirement is 10 years of support. (and if nobody can offer that, then their value proposition changes dramatically. If their strategy forces me to be thinking about what switches to buy every couple of years, I may as well just buy ubiquiti)
