This role will commence 13 April 2026. Routine duties will include resolving issues for desktops, laptops, servers, tablets, projectors and interactive whiteboards, this will also include system upgrades. As no two days will be the same, you may need to cover a variety of tasks as the role develops, this means you will need to have excellent organisational skills, be flexible in your approach to work and be willing to learn to keep up with any changes. Experience desirable but not necessary of supporting Windows Server Systems in Hyper V environment, Meraki and HPE/Aruba networking, SCCM, VOIP telephony, Office 365 and Windows 10/11 desktop environment. 3
TheHyperTechie Posted February 13 Posted February 13 Just wondering if this has been accidentally labelled as a senior position by mistake, when maybe it's supposed to be a junior/1st line position? I would expect a senior technician to have experience in the items you listed there, not desirable.

No this is correct, the experience is desirable but not necessary, we will train the candidate to this level. we put it out as senior position to attract candidates as we wouldn't get any applications. 2

Quite frankly your not going to get anyone worth there salt applying for a "senior" Role for 2k over minimum wage 2

I know you are jus posting the position so forgive me but advertising a senior role with out increasing the top grade/renumerance package is a bit off putting and may jus put off anyone that has already gained senior experience. Fair enough if org is happy to train, but issue most of the time is while experience/seniority increases pay does not always match which is a bug bear many relate too. Edited February 13 by Davit2005

I know that, but if we didn't advertise the position as "Senior" we couldn't pay what we are, it would be a Grade 3. I get it, but its what I am working with.

alextreadwell Posted February 13 Author Posted February 13 I'm hoping the School Support Staff Negotiating Body have a positive influence on this as they start to take effect this year, Academies can pay what ever they want for support staff, we took another secondary school on a few years ago and the IT staff were paid more than the rest of the Trust, they cut their wages after 2 years TUPE and they all left, says it all. 2
