Hi

We have the setting for Under 18 on for pupil accounts, but when accessing YouTube, Users get the YouTube is blocked for Under 18s.

Users have to sign out of The browser or go incognito to use it

I have tried all settings to get this to work. Does anyone have ideas on this. Turning under 18 off not an option.

Hi. Is YouTube enabled for your students OU under additional services?

Under 18's should still be able to access YouTube if enabled. However, access will be more limited. They will not be able to create channels, see or post comments, etc. More info here: https://support.google.com/a/answer/10651918

I'd also recommend configuring strict restricted mode for YouTube in both your YouTube service settings and Chrome policies.

Does the strict restricted mode actually do anything?  The videos I've seen come up  shows that it can't be doing much content recognition / word recognition  etc

You need to get annual parental consent now if you're using Google Workspace accounts with Additional Services, see this help article Communicating with Parents and Guardians about Google Workspace for Education - Google Workspace Admin Help

Specifically,

Quote

Additional Services require consent for minor users—Google Workspace for Education requires in its agreement (section 3.5) that schools obtain parent or guardian consent for any Additional Services they allow students under the age of 18 to use.
