I watched an interview last night with Michael Shanks, where he revealed that a day or two before, a producer was asking to confirm an email address so that he could let them all know is advance out of respect, and that is the kind of thing I like to hear.

Yep...

 

What is the point of paying streaming subscriptions these days?  I was furious when Wheel of Time was cancelled, but not hugely shocked despite that last series being stunning.

I guess this shouldn't have surprised me either.  There are only so many people, and they don't tend to switch subs just for a single show.

Until streamer execs go back to making prestige content and chasing awards rather than chasing the handful of people who might well switch platforms for a new show they like, then it's fairly pointless getting your hopes up for anything.

 

What an absolute waste of talent we're seeing right now.

Jac Schaeffer is developing a new “Stargate” TV series for Amazon MGM Studios, Variety has learned exclusively from sources.

 

The project falls under Schaeffer’s overall deal with Amazon MGM, which was announced earlier this year. According to sources, a writers’ room is expected to open in the near future. Along with Schaeffer, Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell for Safehouse Pictures will executive produce the project.

 

Reps for Amazon and Schaeffer declined to comment.

 

This will be Amazon’s second attempt at a new “Stargate” series. It was previously reported that Martin Gero was working on a new TV entry in the sci-fi franchise, but that project ultimately did not move forward...

I'm interested to see what happens with this.

By all accounts, it's a full reboot, though.  No reference to the SG1 Universe, which is a real shame.
