Hey,

I have a ML110 G5 (Dual core xeon 2.3) and I was wondering if anybody knows how much power these consume when idle and under load?

I am asking because, I am being moaned at, because we are now using £20 of electricity a week, and I am wondering if this is related to the server, or price hikes...

Although it seams to be since we got a new meter... lol

Its an entry level uniprocessor server so it shouldn't be much more than any other pc, I would say between 100-250W depending on the amount of hard drives.

Sorry?

They're moaning at you for having the servers running?

Find out how many staff have personal kettles/fridges/coffee makers/fan heaters and point out that they are not strictly required at school and if they wanted to save money then they should look there first.

Thanks bizzel I may have to look into getting one of those.

PeterW: Yeah, that's the rough idea I had, but like all things you want to know I cant even find a figure on Google!

Heebeejeebee: Yeah, I have noticed that at home. I mean, they moan at me for having my server on, but then its ok for them to leave the lights and tv's on when they go out... Its friggin annoying...

Who is 'we'? £20 a week isn't a lot if you're in a school, but sounds more like you're at home to me.

I am at home... ;) Suppose thats my fault for posting on the IT forum for schools and not saying that lol
