SIMS fails to export reports in PDF. (if more than 2)

We've moved to Office 2024 from 2019 and now exporting more than 2 reports will fail in SIMS.  We are told it is an issue with our office? OK, now what..  The chatbot states that SIMS is using legacy com things and not releasing it properly.. All I know is that people are stuck.. We can however export to word xml so we'll manually convert if need be.

Hi @chazzy2501 I am keen to try and help resolve this issue you are currently experiencing, please can you confirm some more information of how it is failing and provide details of any errors you are seeing? Please could also confirm your email address.

Hi, Sally, if we select a class group of 30 pupils it'll process a few but then error with the message "error in exporting reports to this location" it'll then open word with one of the reports. (selecting 1 or 2 pupils works)

 

We have tried different destinations (network and local) and the PCs memory is not fully used. (16gb)

 

We do have macros to prompt before run, in office. (as we have always done)

Can we put a solution on here instead of just asking it to be reported to Sims Support- Forums are here to help techies to see if its a problem accross the borad and be a help if a fix/solution has been found. No point of user "SIMS_CUSTOMER_SUPPORT" being on this forum if your standard repsonse is Log a Ticket!!

I am happy to provide solutions for a universal fix, however there are scenarios where there are several solutions depending on the issue being experienced. 

 

Please do let me know if the support unit have logged a case, I can then work with the assigned analyst and provide the correct information for the described issue.

I have been told by our SSU that "this is a known issue with Office 2024 which is under investigation by Parent Pay". They have apparently logged a case with ParentPay about three weeks ago and are still waiting on a reply.

Can you confirm that this is now a known issue that is being investigated by Parent Pay?

For what it's worth, it seems this issue has been around for at least a year...

I have purchased office 365 (for copilot) and the admin member comes to my office to do their exports! 

 

You can get office 365 for that member at about £34 per year. (or wait for the fix)
