tazz Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 Has anyone else noticed how the FFS board has quietened down during the hols? I bet first week back it is the most posted board again in no time!
K.C.Leblanc Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I know, but I expect it'll get very busy at the start of Sepember.I expect to see one of the following topics within 4 days. Laptops for Lunchtime Supervisors. How can an educated person accidentally put a laptop in the oven While I'm at it, shall I shove a broom up my #######.
Edu-IT Posted August 28, 2008 Posted August 28, 2008 I could probably create half a dozen topics already but I've decided to wait, only been back a day so don't want to start moaning on here just yet.
Zoom7000 Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 No Teachers/Students = No/Very Little Trouble Now if only the LEA buggered off for 6 weeks at a time! Non-Related: Hey, the big 300!
tech_guy Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I suggest the following topic: Isn't Capita a lovely company?
sparkeh Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Oh I have one. Title: "Don't you just love it when the carpet fitters rip out all the plugs, cables connectors from your machines and leave a bundle of equipment in the corner for your first day back."
Joedetic Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 We had glaziers in just before the endof term and they'd moved some kit and managed to get old putty in the rest
K.C.Leblanc Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 We had glaziers in just before the endof term and they'd moved some kit and managed to get old putty in the rest Is that a bad thing, putty is handy for configuring switches.
richard.thomas Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 Is that a bad thing, putty is handy for configuring switches. Thats some serious geek jokery there!
Joedetic Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 *sigh* I was going to make that joke myself but thought better of it! I did wonder how long it would take you lot though!
Steven_Cleaver Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 We have had the decoraters in here had to move all the equipment from the walls in four IT suites and put it back but the decorators have left the rooms in a right mess. They organised this so that the rooms were cleaned then had the decorators in after to mess the rooms up great planning.
GrumbleDook Posted August 29, 2008 Posted August 29, 2008 I got a panic phone call from a Head of a Primary yesterday who was a tad annoyed over a lost connection to the EMBC ... this time it was teh fault of some data engineers and builders. Some bright spark decided that moving teh cab that held the router was not enough ... lovely grey BT box on the wall was in the way so the engineers disconnected it and moved it to where they thought it would be better ... without telling BT. The Head comes back after the building work is completed and the data engineers are back in. They want to know when BT are coming in to fix things ... Fix what she ask? No one had told her that moving the box was not just a case of putting a few wires back in. So ... it got called in as a cable damaged by builders ... and now we have another chunk of guidance to go out to schools who are planning building works which they are going to manage themselves. If it involves moving telephone cables, broadband cables, electrical / gas / water supply ... speak to the supplier first and don't let builders / engineers / architects fob you off with "it'll be fine"!!! BT ... good blokes were out within 3 hours of the call this morning and repaired it ... having a few choice words with the data engineer who is likely to be billed for the call out now.
dhicks Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Has anyone else noticed how the FFS board has quietened down during the hols? Wind back about 150 years and around 5,000 miles west and you would be exactly the kind of chap who stood with his back to the campfire, gazing around at the prairie and saying "Hey, guys - it's awful quite out here!" right before getting nailed by the first incoming Apache arrow... -- David Hicks
DrCheese Posted August 30, 2008 Posted August 30, 2008 Oh I have one. Title: "Don't you just love it when the carpet fitters rip out all the plugs, cables connectors from your machines and leave a bundle of equipment in the corner for your first day back." Got that one, fortunately it's only the teacher PC's in 5 or so English classrooms. Annoying tho, as we've got other stuff we really need to do and could do without having to recable them and then re-lay the cable management in time for Wednesday. Doesn't help that the painters are still in however
