reMarkable tablet

Has anyone ever used a reMarkable tablet / have any in school?  This would be for staff use.  Any issues?

What problem are you trying to solve?

 

i'd looked at one personally a while ago when LTT did some videos on them, it sounds like reMarkable are heading down the subscription to make the device useable path

 

Looking at stuff again, there is probably a good cheaper alternative if its just for something like note taking or maybe e-marking

Also you can get an IPAD for less, which is likely to be better in every way apart from battery life

I've got one for personal use (and do use at work for note taking). I love it for writing on, and think it's a great device for writing/sketching. I do wind up needing to replace the pen nib every year or so.

I don't see why it couldn't be used for staff in school as long as their cloud component passes your DPIA (there's no reason it shouldn't), although I don't think there's any way to manage/monitor/filter them.

Personally I think LTT were a bit harsh in the remarkable2 review.

This. As much as I love mine,  this is the main reason I couldn't ever recommend it for education/business. For the same price a remarkable2 (with pen and basic cover) you could get an iPad Pro, apple pencil and probably a type cover, which will do all the same things as the remarkable, plus web/apps/etc and it's manageable.

 

One of the things I really like about the remarkable is the slight papery texture to the screen, so I don't get that floaty feeling I often get when using an e-pen type stylus on a glass screen, but you can get a "paper texture" screen protector for your iPad pro for about £15 that does the same thing (this I would really recommend if your users are planning to a lot of handwriting/drawing/annotation).

I currently use a reporters note book that fits in my shirt pocket for note taking and would like to replace this with an electronic solution.

 

One of my colleges uses his iPad Pro and another has a Remarkable 2 for this and both are really good for writign on and saving notes however they are too big for me.

 

I have been looking at eh Remarkable Pro Move which looks great and could be a Christmas present to myself.

 

However I have to ask myself it they are £400 better than a note book?

What about an iPad Mini? The Pro is great and have one for watching movies, the sound is awesome, but you need that if you are jus taking notes and watching the odd movie or streaming and prefer the smaller size?
