Summer 2025 work. How's it going?

With not long to go before the school bell rings once more it's time to ask how all of your work has gone this year?
Are you sat with your feet up in the office drinking brews, or phoning suppliers chasing kit that should have been delivered in the first week?

Smooth summer, except for that one supplier who still cannot get the basics of their own system right. I won't name names, as I'm sure their lawyers work faster than their techs. 🤣

Few days off now, before that it was feet up in the office drinking beers brews, got my summer jobs done as best I could. Windows 11 is everywhere it can be, new PCs deployed, massive pile of ewaste, the usual!

Relaxing last few days here. Windows 11 everywhere where possible. Vast majority of jobs done.

Had a backup internet line installed, some other little jobs around the place then some annual leave. Now trying to get back my head back into gear for when staff arrive on Monday..

Not in a school, but my charity is trying to install a new case Management System. LM is further diminishing my role as I was historically the the lead on the old system. It's a direct replacement for the old system so it is further devious behaviour to move the work to others. Anyway, I have only been minimally involved in the replacement. It's genuinely going really badly so perhaps being distant from it isn't all bad. The tough but right call would be to abandon it and look again. SLT did pick the cheapest over a more functional rich product and we are seeing the result of that. There's another complication in that we appear to being forced to use another system due to misguided belligerence by an NHS related lead which only accounts for half our work. To cap it all, there's been almost no end user engagement and very little leadership team involvement. As a case study of how not to run a project it would be a great example. It will be an entertaining, and cringe-worthy, first demo of progress to a wider audience.

Did our Win 11 deployment last year, so this year it's just the 24H2 May release being imaged onto all PCs which we had completed in a couple of weeks.  Replaced about 150 monitors around the site, but not much else as budget is low for summer work this year.  But, everything should run the same as last.  No major surprises on other.  Just a good tidy up and sort out of stuff.
