Hi All,

Our pupils have found a sites.google.com website (through searching on Copilot... that's another story for another day 🙄) full of unblocked games that can be played in the . URL is https://sites.google.com/view/unblocked-games-76-new/home

Ordinarily I'd block sites.google.com outright, but apparently our IT teachers have created a sites.google.com site that they use that is full of links to their stuff... so that's no go. We've asked if they can purchase a domain and they're looking into it. And then the plan is to block all sites.google.com sites.

For the meantime though, is there any way to block all sites.google.com except the one site made by our IT teachers using Smoothwall? Sorry if this is an easy one, I'm a total beginner with managing our Smoothwall!

I would be very suprised if with full decryption if that, and other games sites hosted on sites.google.com wasn't blocked by Smoothwall filtering.

Test with a student account how it looks if you do the test at

https://test.mysmoothwall.net

If you use Cloud Filter, "Malware and Phishing" will be shown as allowed, as the function is in the browser.

If you use Smoothwall Proxy, test if QUIC is blocked. If not, you must block QUIC for the filter to work.
https://quic.nginx.org

The page you specified should be classified as "Video Games" through "URL patterns" if Smoothwall is set up correctly.

Thanks - when running the test as a student I cannot see QUIC on the returned results 😕

Thanks for this. I'm assuming our URL Patterns are not set up correctly then, as I can't anything listed in there at all... My excuse is that I inherited our Smoothwall from a worker before me and I'm totally new to it all!!

I've run the QUIC test as a student and have received the results below.

Not sure if this matters, but we run an in-school Smoothwall server. Apologies if I'm coming across a total noob... I am!

I've search for the URL under Categories and these are the results

But when I click into the categories listed, for example Student Allows URLs, to delete it out, it's not listed. Am I doing something wrong?

I would recommend that you contact your Smoothwall representative to discuss training and a review of your installation.
As there may be a lot that is set up incorrectly and that there may be added categories that you do not block such as nitrous oxide etc.

It may also be worth switching to Cloud Filter during the summer and perhaps starting from scratch when it comes to the filter..
It is much easier to manage the Cloud Filter and then you do not have to think about QUIC etc.

When it comes to QUIC, there is no need to run any test, the answer comes on the first page.
This is what it should look like if you use Smoothwall On Premsie.
That is. QUIC should be blocked.
