Pearson POP LAN in Serverless Schools

One of my schools have decided to want to deliver Functional Skills ICT using Pearson POP LAN.

 

I am proud My School is fully serverless environment Managed in INtune  and thats where the problem lies.

 

Pearson POP LAN is a server client installation and does not suit the environment. Whilst i could fudge it and install the server side on a client machine. i feel this is step back in the collective hard work.

 

Does anyone deliver functional skills in a serverless environment. Can you recommend a solution that would suit my ideal requirements

Sadly I think Peason POP is just one of those cases where it is handy to have a dedicated machine (whether it be a single server/NUC/desktop - doesn't matter) for the times where software/processes are not designed for the cloud.

Don't want a dedicated device? Your only choice then is as you said, pick a machine for the server side of POP to be installed on.

Though Peason POP had an online mode. It's been a while since we have used POP.

Welcome to serverless intune, where you've literally stopped your school from being able to deliver any of the "made in a shed" exam board software. Which is 95% of exam boards.

I simply install the server side of it onto my exams officer desktop pc, it works well and our exams officer likes having it installed on the local machine.

This is where a VM on a box comes in. You can still call yourself serverless if you want - when you absolutely must have a local instance, build the VM, use it, then archive it/switch it off. Ideal job for a microserver or similar - the licensing is another matter.

You just have a dedicated virtual host that is absolutely not a server! No sir. Also, stick the case badges from a desktop over the model code on the case.

Well, this is Pearson - everything they say should be taken with a pinch of salt, which you must assume is actually pepper
