Great British Summer

Well once again we have had a glorious Great British summer this year! Lots of sun shine as usual, meaning lots of BBQ’s.

Thing is I think we've actually had more rain this year, it's just been spread out for the entirety of August instead of all coming on one day.

 

The scary thing is due to the credit crunch everyone seems to be going camping this year (except me).

A friend who owns a holiday cottage in Wales has said it has been manic this year as what with the Euro picking up and the credit worries tons of people have been staying in the UK. I think he has been booked solid since about may & will be through to the end of Oct with only one cancellation.

I dont get this stay in britain = cheap myth.

 

Maybe pitching a tent in a field for a week is cheap, but travelling anywhere decent and staying a semi-decent hotel, food, attractions, plus the petrol to travel accross the country etc, you can get a cheap package holiday to the sun for about the same.

27 year old and I went on a Lakes and mountains holiday in Austria, 1 week of quality sunshine for £320. Austrian BBQ's are miles better than GB's

Yup sure is...I grew up in Brisbane and temperatures at this time of year range from 3-8C at night & high teens to mid twentys during the day.

What on earth do you get to talk about? I think the only reason conversation hasn't died out in the UK is because we can discuss what the weather was like yesterday, what it's going to be like today and for the rest of the weekend :-)

melbourne, although i've never been, seems to have a very aggreable climate.

I wouldn't even mind the odd 40 degree day if they were very few and far between.

 

A day time temeprature of around 24 degrees most of the year with nights being roughly 10 degrees cooler would be my idea of perfect weather.

I emigrated here in 2004. It's only agreeable here in Townsville, North Queensland for about 10 months of the year as it's the tropics so we get high humidity, rain, cyclones etc for the few months around Xmas but we have aircon for that! We talk about when it might rain next Anyway in the UK I was just a tech, now I'm the Network Manager
