Seb1780 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I'm not sure how many of you get involved in this, but it is kind of census related. I've just got our EFA statement-thingy from them and whilst looking through it I noticed there were 15 students who "did not meet the Conditions of Funding". When I look at this further I can see that the students involved were lacking GCSE English and/or Maths but all were taking the appropriate GCSE to compensate. Under the conditions of funding rules this is what we have to do. Has anyone else noticed this discrepancy?
WayTooTricky Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I had this and discovered that, although the students were in classes, they weren't members of the course.
Seb1780 Posted February 5, 2016 Author Posted February 5, 2016 @WayTooTricky - I don't think this is a census error, within the EFA's own spreadsheet it is showing the students were studying GCSE English (having looked into it a little more it does appear to be just English). This Suggests the data we sent is correct and has the students correctly taking GCSE English but, for some reason, the EFA are not recognising that.
mark80 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 I will keep an eye out for our EFA funding thingy. I had noticed in the census bumf that if a student didnt get at least a C in Maths & English Language OR Literature then to recieve the funding they needed to be on a timetabled course to achieve that goal. To do this i set up a GCSE Resit Maths & GCSE Resit English qual in Course Manager, used the correct QAN and attached the teaching group to it.....time will tell if that was right M

I've now raised a query with the EFA so we'll see what that says. @CAM - I got it via the EFA Document Exchange (which I get to through Secure Access). simrac Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I've just had to submit a query as there are students in Band 1 that shouldn't be there! Turns out they haven't put in any qualification hours for them yet they're on SIMS!
tombry Posted February 9, 2016 Posted February 9, 2016 I have a few I don't understand either - I have my finance lady and head looking it over, and then we'll submit queries as well. I know for a fact on our census every one of our students had enough hours
simrac Posted February 10, 2016 Posted February 10, 2016 @tombry I had my response from the EFA, where they said "If you believe there is an error in this data you may submit a business case once we have sent you your final allocation statement." I've double and triple checked the census data and I'm sure they've got it wrong!
