I am having a moment.., in the post 16 return we need to enter the learning hours and non learning hours.., now my question is a simple one, but I have not Been able to get an answer. are the learning hours - set against a qan.. Meant to be; glh straight from ofqual (as = 180) funded hours as per old funding formula (as = 150) or do we take our lessons x a week and multiply by no of weeks? There is nothing out there from what I can tell that helps... And we are a cmis school ;( thanks
WayTooTricky Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 It is rubbish that there is nothing to help us. I've gone with the number of hours that are timetabled - we can justify that we are teaching those hours. Am happy to be corrected

CAM Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 Same, timetabled hours here which is 150 for AS/A in my school. Oddly enough, BTEC co-ordinator reports higher for BTEC! (180/360/540 for single/double/triple). Also pastoral counts for reg groups but nowhere to put it in SIMS so I had to tack it on to PSHE non-qual hours. This year does seem as big a nightmare as when Learning Aims reconciled against exam grades came in.
Seb1780 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 We're predominantly AS/A2 here and I found Course Manager straight forward. I set up default qualification hours for AS and A2 based on timetabled hours using Course Manager Settings. I also set up default hours for GCSE resits etc; basically making sure every course a sixth former could take had default settings. I used Maintain Course to make sure each subject was allocated to the correct level which meant these default hours carried through to all the courses and meant I only need a few tweaks to accommodate some minor differences. I then used Maintain Programmes of Study to add a nominal 35 hours per year to all students to cover non-qualification hours.
jrma91 Posted October 10, 2014 Posted October 10, 2014 At my school we were advised it was the number of timetabled hours in a week multiplied BY the number of weeks from the start of term, until the exams start or when they go on study leave. So for us this is 32 weeks. As once the exams finish they are no longer being taught the subject, and if we were to be audited then you wouldn't be able to prove that they were being taught that subject once the exams were finished. So this is what we have gone with! Also don't forget if a student is re-taking English or Maths as they didn't get a C grade then this counts as qualification hours. Regards, jrma91

Had to play around with BTEC a bit and had a handful of students doing weird stuff requiring amendments to their hours but Course Manager handled most of it. Lots of checking though, hence why I found it to be a bit of a slog! At least next year we will only have to worry about a single year's hours. Saving grace!

But we have students doing all sorts of courses and so doing the learning hours for post 16 took us a long time to do and check. Also did anyone have problems with course manager. Sometimes I felt like I was doing something then I go back later on and the changes made were no longer there
