Just to ask as well how does extracting of information from bromcom work. Can you auto schedule reports? Can you query the database directly? Also when you say the reporting engine in Bromcom is not as good how do you mean

There was a suggestion from a member of staff about moving from SIMS to Bromcom. I just want to find out if other schools have migrated and how they find bromcom in comparison to SIMS. In patricular how do you find extracting information from Bromcom. Is schools able to have access to the database?

Potetially why it might be interesting to see if this is really going to support schools enough. Do you know when this may potentially be completed.

Its from a potetial research point of view. I want to know what they are doing which will reduce the amount of data collection data managers and schools have to do I also saw the website but there is not much info about it

Hi All I have recently taken over admissions and unfortunately my LEA only provides the student information via CSV and therefore manually update SIMS admissions. At the moment our school is also getting them to fill in a student information form with further information and I am not prepared to manually update SIMS with this as well However I think I wasted a lot of time here and I should have just emailed the primary schools and get them to send us the CTF files rather than updating SIMS admissions manually. I just want to find out from other people when they normally ask primary schools to send over CTF files? As if I can get the CTF files early then all that needs to be done is to check that there is no information that needs to be updated based on the information form

Hi All Just had a look at the power BI (free version) and thinking of setting it up for our school as a data analysis tools for subject leaders and SLT instead of my current system of exporting data onto excel from SIMS. I also think it has lots of potential and more flexible compared to buying a package such as 4matrix. I just want to find out if other schools are using it and for advise if you are using Power BI

Hi All Our school is thinking about moving to Google Cloud however from a data perspective I am curious about a few things. I wanted to ask schools who are using google cloud do you still have microsoft office avaliable for staff and students to use or are you no longer using office at all? If schools want to use microsoft office and use google cloud do you have to still pay for office 365 or can school purchase a standalone office? At the moment I use excel and in particular use marcos to extract data from SIMS which I will no longer be able to use if the school decides to use google and no longer have office. I also understand that things like google sheets have limited functionality.

Hi I was wondering if anyone can help. We have been having issues where data in assessment manager is going missing. Normally if it is one or two people who complain I would normally ignore but a high number of people have been complaining and I noticed speed issues with SIMS as well. Have other people had this problem and if so any potential solutions to this? Thanks

Also the same here timetabled hours. But we have students doing all sorts of courses and so doing the learning hours for post 16 took us a long time to do and check. Also did anyone have problems with course manager. Sometimes I felt like I was doing something then I go back later on and the changes made were no longer there

Thanks!!! Been away for a while so did not see this. Just figured out as well that when any member of staff select NCYear that we get error message. I logged the case on Capita before I saw your post but I will ask IT to apply the patch and hopefully that would solve it

Thanks I'll log it with capita as it happens when I create a basic report but has filters that are a little bit less straightfoward. Bit of a nusance as Im now having to come up with alternative ways of getting information from sims

Every time I try to run a complex report in SIMS I get the error message that string or binary data would be truncated. Checked Capita for a solution and could not find anything on there Any ideas on how to solve the problem myself or is this something IT department has to do or need a patch to resolve?

I line manage data and exams and been sitting with the head of centre all day about A level results. Only myself the assistant head for data head of sixth form and the head can see the results

Thanks that worked. I thought that doing the exception to the embargo that I won't be able to view any data in assessment manager but I am still able to and other people cannot see anything in SIMS

Hi I want to do my data analysis in assesment managerr. However with the embargo on I wont be able to do it the day before. Can I temporarily lift the embargo then add it back on again or if I make myself the exception to the embargo can I view the data in assesment manager?

Currently the person who arranges interventions does it on a spreadsheet which is time consuming and difficult to see if a student has a clash e.t.c. I am going to be taking over and would like to use a proper timetable software to timetable holiday intervention lessons and a bonus would be if teachers can do a register as well. Wanted to use Nova T6 but I have never used it before and do not want to do anything that would mess up SIMS and affect the main timetable (main timetable is dobe by someone else). Therefore Im thinking to use another software (ideally free) to do this. Just want to find out from other people how they timetable things like holiday school and interventions

No we are still on the spring release

The timetabler is trying to send the timetable into SIMS and as the person starts the transfer process the error message "Unknown Source Group in Supplied Curriculum Band" comes up. Does anyone have any ideas why this error message is showing up?

Hi I have an issue where the main teacher is showing on the student's timetable but when one goes to print the timetable the teaching assistant shows up as the teacher not the main class teacher. The teaching assistant is NOT the first name in the alphabet and it's a random issue that happens with some classes but not other classes
