Hi,

I recall seeing something about this over the weekend but for the life of me I cant seem to track it down now, it mentioned ParentPay redundancies. Without sharing specific details a relative who works there confirmed that redundancies are being made.

The company seem to be shifting work to India so the intention looks to be, layoff employees in the UK to then hire from India.

With the data held in SIMS and FMS I am worried that this will be accessed and handled outside of the UK in India. Could this be a breach of GDPR?

We've all seen this before with other companies and I fear that it's downhill from here...

Thanks,

M

Handling the data outside the UK won't, in and of itself, be a breach of GDPR, even if it might make us feel uneasy about it.

The data handling can't/shouldn't be a problem. Microsoft and Google are American companies, but comply with GDPR data handling requirements in the UK and EU.

The support aspect however I can't comment on, but all I would say, in a time of need it's good to get clear and prompt solutions to problems.

Yeah it was posted last week, making valid points about data handling and service quality decline as it usually does when companies outsource abroad. Post was somehow removed by admins. Strange.

Not sure Parentpay product could get much worse, (missync haha) I’m 99% sure I won’t notice any difference as the rare occasion I have to contact them it takes a few days to get an answer of sorts anyway.

Will only affect us indirectly. Most of my schools use other sims support company’s rather than ess direct. Maybe bad news for I guess our third party companies that may have to go thru India first before getting an answer on the more problematic issues

The trend as I'll refer to it, appears to be ESS will eventually offer support directly to all schools, as third party agreements (as discussed on this forum) are not being renewed.
