Headphones for KS1 and KS2

Hi,

 

Can anyone recommend some rugged headphones for KS1 and KS2.

We had a bit of a mixed bag and at the end of last year I removed all the damaged ones and we are now left with CAMVIS C203C, these have a coiled lead and volume control.

 

We cannot buy these from eBay but these are the ones we have:

For ease (and less hassle in the classroom), I am looking for headphones that look similar, but don't have onboard volume control.

You can't go wrong with these. Stood the test of time in a high school, they're still going strong after 5+ years.

I have just seen that the Crusader have a Mic attached.

Do they have 2 x 3.5mm plugs or just the one?

How does the mic work when used with a Laptop / ChromeBook / iPad that only has 1 x 3.5mm Headphone Socket?

They do multiple version of the same headphones - 2 x 3.5mm 3 pole, 1 x 3.5mm 4 pole and USB. We've got both the 3 pole and 4 pole sets and the microphones for fine for our environment.

They do two options, one with the single 3.5mm, and another with 2 3.5mm (mic in / headphone in)

Aren't they the same headphones but with different cables, so you can just replace the cable if required

I think headphones are a lost cause, weve tried everything from the cheapest of the cheap 2 quid ear buds to expensive over ear and they all end up getting lost/broken/abused

 

It literally doesnt matter what make model or price you get, the same thing will happen to them sooner or later.

 

We just buy cheap ones now and consider them disaposable.

Assign headphones per user, one set free, they pay for any replacements, same with laptops

Me too. I've put coloured electrical tape on them depending on which department they are in, helps when it comes to returning them

What is the problem you're having with the Crusader headphones? For us the cushion part comes away so easily that some of them come out of the case 'damaged'.

Yes the cushion comes away but can be clipped back into place easily. The main problems we have is one side of the headphones stops working or they go very quiet even when the volume is turned right up and don't get me started on the length of the cable. Students can sit on the opposite bench and have cable spare.

Have you got any tricks for getting it back in? It's easy to say it can be put back but the fact that they come off so easily means they can go missing just as easily!

 

Crusader say they've sold 10,000s and had no complaints.

I just push it back in and it normally stays put. I get one every month but this is a primary so students don't break things that often. All of the headphones in the box are faulty, some the sound only works on one side or no sound at all. I really need to have a purge and get rid of them.

Can't find an easy way, might end up with cover staff gluing them all in.

Just an FYI on the Crusader robust headphones, and the ear cushions coming off. You can buy spares of these, to replace them if and when they get lost, but I found we never lost that many.

 

We've had a set of these ourselves for maybe 5+ years, and it's only been this last summer that I've audited them and found a lot of failures. Five years is bloody good for a set of headphones IMO (just about to order a new set of 32 @ £330 + VAT).

£38 a pair though, you'd expect good!

 

Has anyone tried buying directly from AliExpress or alike? Many of these £15 headphones seem to sell there for a couple of quid. These resellers are making a fortune from stuff that falls apart!
