Hi Everyone,

I have ran into a massive problem today and it seems to be quite an annoying one for me. I have had an issue where a user reported that a youtube video was not playing because it says that it is restricted by admin of the organisation but I have checked all the settings to confirm that our accounts are not restricted and don't really have a reason to be restricted due to our firewall managing Youtube videos anyway but this is not conflicting with the videos that are being played either. I have tried this on my Mac and I can see that my account is unrestricted and on a chromebook and this is also unrestricted as it should but on the windows computers the accounts always end up being restricted for some odd reason.

Has anyone ran into this issue before and know how to fix this? I think I am literally out of all options and patience at this point as I have spent way to long looking at the restricted toggle on the Windows laptop.

It's more likely to be a Group Policy or other similar managed browser rule that is enforcing safe mode for YouTube.

Yep worth checking. I had similar problem back when we used to use chrome. Previous IT staff had setup the google admin panel for our org & left no documentation, passwords or anything :D

Its either that, or GPO.

Hi Everyone,

I have found out what the problem is and it is not what some people expect. Even though we haven't got any restrictions set for our accounts in the Google Admin console there is a setting that I haven't turned on and that was to allow users to watch restricted videos when signed in. I turned this on not really expecting much and got a positive result. If anyone else has this problem then that is pretty much what you need to turn on in the settings of Youtube and it will work.

Hi Guys, I had a similar issue but on my company laptop. I tried what Danny11515 shared but wasn't able to play with restriction settings in the Google Admin console because have no such rights.

However, it was an even easier fix for me, just log in to my personal account :)
