  1. Hi, We have Lightspeed and yes this inspects SSL.
  2. Has anyone ran into this issue when trying to use the appstore to download anything to the smart board? I am trying to download Trilby TV but I need to sign in on the promethean smart board to allow myself to get onto the next stage of downloading the app but for some reason when I get to the sign in part to put my email in it gives me an error message and says that it is unable to connect to Google.com annoyingly. I am not sure if it is because it needs to do a download of the latest update first as I have just enabled this on the smart board to be used but I am not sure if it downloads automatically or if I need to do this myself?
  3. That is quite brave going with Wireless keyboard and mice. I don't think I would ever really take the risk only because of how much wireless keyboards and mice cost for the replacement or repairs. I have also been doing some digging through our MDM Mosyle not sure if anyone else uses mosyle but there was a restriction that we had on for the iMacs previously which was to disable USB restricted mode which prevents prompts to users to allow the connection for USB connections to be used on the macs. I am going to disable this setting for now to see if this will make any change to the situation as I am suspicious once this has been approved on the mac hopefully this will remember the connection for next time or allow the mice and keyboard to be picked up when the user goes to use the hardware if that makes any sense. This was introduced on Ventura so from what I was seeing from another user apparently they were also experience problems from Ventura onwards so lets see if this is the setting that causes the problems.
  4. Hi, I have tested the USB ports for the keyboards and also tried using a usb hub for the keyboards and we have had no joy in rectifying the issue so I think we are stuck at the moment until there is another update that has been pushed out by apple to rectify this little issue.
  5. Hi, I have been running through a test of having the keyboard and the midi keyboard connected to the USB ports of the mac mini and then having the mouse only connected through USB C. At the moment it seems to be working fine without any problems as I haven't had anyone come to me with complaints but will keep a close eye on the situation as it develops but this could be a fix.
  6. Hi, Could you post the reference of what peripherals you have from ExtremeMac? because I have a feeling that you might have the same peripherals as us.
  7. Hi, We have the same peripherals! Keyboard: XWH-WIK2-83-UK Mouse: XWH-WM02-83
  8. Hi, I have recently upgraded our Mac suite over the May half term and our supplier gave us XtremeMac wired mice and keyboards with the USB C connector/ USB A adapter. Because the mac suite needs to have a MIDI keyboard connected to the computer for the music lessons I have plugged both mice and keyboard into the USB C ports in the mac so that we can have everything connected and running perfectly because our original iMacs that we had used to have everything connected. Unfortunately I have had non stop problems from the start with students using them now where the keyboards stop working and need to be unplugged and re plugged back in or the mac needs to be restarted to allow the keyboard to work or the keyboard just decides it is now broken. Has anyone else used Xtreme Mac hardware before? I have gone back to the supplier where I purchased the macs and the keyboard and mice from and mentioned the problems I am having and they have pointed the finger to Apple having the issue with the recent update they have made. Any help would be great because I feel like I am getting a visit from either a student or the music/media teacher every 30 seconds of the day.
  9. Hi, We just mainly use Google Chrome, Silabus, Logic, Microsoft 365, One drive and Adobe if I can try to remember all of this on the top of my head.
  10. Hi, I have had to purchase shiny brand new Mac Mini's and trust me it wasn't the most pleasant experience. We have been working hard to ensure that these are all setup and working perfectly how we would like them to but a question was raised and this has really confused me because I am slightly unsure on how to do this. We would like One drive to automatically start syncing the user with all of its data no matter where it is stored i.e. either documents or desktop and have One Drive handle the storing of data rather than the mac storing this and being filled up with all of users at the school. Apparently there is an easy script to make for Mosyle to do this but everywhere I search high and low I cannot seem to find it. Has anyone been able to achieve this that could help me out? If not then we have invested into One K-12 as a school so we can happily use the delete user profiles command and then delete their user data if the macs start to become full.
  11. Hi, I have found a quick fix. It seems to be DNS conflicting with other computers so I deleted the one that was affecting the system and then flushed the DNS cache in PDQ and closed the application and reopened it so that everything started to sync perfectly again
  12. Hi Everyone, I have been monitoring a PC in our computer labs and it seems that this computer connects to a network fine because I am able to login into a roaming profile without an issue and I am able to ping Google with a response. However on PDQ it says that the last time that a successful scan was 02/04/2024 even though every other computer can scan without an error. Also it says that it's uptime has been 42days and 5 hours so I am guessing 02/04/2024 is when it decided it was going to go rogue. I have rebuilt the machine about 2 - 3 times without a success. The PC is named correctly because it is appearing in the AD as it should on PDQ. Should I remove this as re add this machine to PDQ to see if this will make a difference?
  13. Hi Everyone, I have found out what the problem is and it is not what some people expect. Even though we haven't got any restrictions set for our accounts in the Google Admin console there is a setting that I haven't turned on and that was to allow users to watch restricted videos when signed in. I turned this on not really expecting much and got a positive result. If anyone else has this problem then that is pretty much what you need to turn on in the settings of Youtube and it will work.
  14. This is restricted on Google chrome and Microsoft Edge.
  15. Hi, I can confirm after connecting this with my personal mobile hotspot I still have the same issue.
  16. Hi Everyone, I have ran into a massive problem today and it seems to be quite an annoying one for me. I have had an issue where a user reported that a youtube video was not playing because it says that it is restricted by admin of the organisation but I have checked all the settings to confirm that our accounts are not restricted and don't really have a reason to be restricted due to our firewall managing Youtube videos anyway but this is not conflicting with the videos that are being played either. I have tried this on my Mac and I can see that my account is unrestricted and on a chromebook and this is also unrestricted as it should but on the windows computers the accounts always end up being restricted for some odd reason. Has anyone ran into this issue before and know how to fix this? I think I am literally out of all options and patience at this point as I have spent way to long looking at the restricted toggle on the Windows laptop.
  17. I seem to have ran into a slight problem today and I am really unsure why this has occurred. I have had a request from a user that I need to update their sticky notes application on their system because it doesn't want to open unless it has done the update and when I click onto the application it says that it is unable to do the update due to the App update policies on this PC preventing me from receiving the required app update. However I have looked onto the Group policy editor and then is no policy set. I have checked on the other computers in the building and this seems to run without an issue but it just seems to be this computer in question that is not allowing the update to run on the system. I have tried logging into an admin account and running a check for updates on the Microsoft store but this doesn't come up with anything. I have checked the settings and checked for updates and this doesn't show anything so I am now a bit stuck. Has anyone else encountered this problem before and know how to fix it?
  18. Thank you to everyone that has responded to this thread. This has been an extremely helpful insight on how you guys see it as well as I do. I just want to exclaim that I 100% agree with the exams needing to be setup to run smoothly and give it a 100% on this. With all the things being said of course with other people/ departments having responsibility I would like to make you guys aware that at this moment in the current workplace they all view this as an IT's responsibility and that we should be pretty much be doing everything. I have obviously tried working with the EO on many occasions have tried expressing concerns that the IT team would be quite stretched and could collapse as we are only a 2 man team meaning if someone fell ill then the only technician would have to pick up the whole slack in the day to make it work. I'll give you a little insight to my team at the moment as it is only me as the Senior IT technician that is handling all of the responsibility of carrying out duties and responsibility on day to day operations alongside my line manager and then we have an apprentice. so theoretically it is only myself really that can take it all on at the moment and of course expressing these issues and concerns before hand I don't think this was taken into consideration. of course I will be having another meeting soon with the EO and other people on what I am doing to support but of course we are doing 110% everyday but will have a complaint fly our way if god forbid if anything was to go wrong. Of course our school is a 1:1 chromebook school so of course our resources on a regular are used up normally through students and staff support with the high demand of technical issues are on a day to day and with our school being very technically advanced there is always something new that someone really wants to try rather than considering how much time this would take IT to really have it to be perfect and ready if that makes sense so normally I prepare myself everyday expecting an earful or someone complaining that something is not working to standard and I should wave my magic wand to fix it.
  19. I get that of course that they have a difficult job to do. However it feels that the IT team are being aske dot stand on their head rather than what is neccessary for running the exams. We have recently had everything setup for exams purposes for the Feb mocks that happened and had to make some last minute changes and updates to the software we use from the exam officer and this then broke the software for the students to use. Of course I got the blame for this from the exam officer even though I have tried to plead my case. This has now been requested again even though everything is perfect and fixed ready to be used and now we have to make changes and test to see if this breaks again. Also we have locked down everything in the settings through group policy but now they are potentially hinting on making changes to this to make the IT team allow USB's or allow different software to be used on the computers just for a singular student which will of course affect everyone else taking their exams. Finally they have recently asked us to split the IT team to work in different areas of the building and of course we are only a team of two which starts to make other jobs that ensure our department runs smoothly more difficult.
  20. Hi Everyone, We are a new school dealing with GCSE exams for the first time which can be exciting but also a pain. The problem is that this is my first time ever setting everything up for exams and supporting for the Mock exams but I seem to have run into an issue. To be honest I think people have now taken advantage of the IT teams kindness to helpfulness in dealing with IT support for staff and students to the point that we are now being pulled away from our day to day office and for one of us to be taken away and sit in a temporary office to mainly deal with IT support for the exams which of course can cause many problems for the IT team because we would now be one less in the office in terms for support and dealing with jobs and we are currently a two man team dealing with 1000+ users on the network. Also I have non stop come into the office every single day and all I have had is the exams manager chew my ear off about exams that are happening in the summer term and that everything needs to be setup and ready to go and basically stressing the IT team out and we have had the SEN team also cause us multiple problems with setup and having to create new things which makes us spend hours of our time changing, testing and confirming things work even though we have had loads of time to prepare in advance but of course they want things sorted 2 weeks in advance even though we have already confirmed the software and config now works just for us to change it again. When I tried pushing back I was then asked "well what is the issue" and of course I had to reply with that the amount of time we have to pour in with changing things or setting things up and testing to ensure that it all works was so easily dismissed with them saying "that shouldn't take so long" Without rambling on too much all I want to know is if anyone currently works in a school that has gone through exams and how do you deal with demanding staff alongside with people trying to make the IT teams life more difficult with silly proposals and finally how do you in terms with support the exams running smoothly. Any insight would be greatly appreciated because I am hoping to build a case study on this one so that I can battle this in a meeting with the exams manager and every other department and of course my line manager (head teacher)
  21. Hi, I am fairly new to my role as a Senior Technician and I have now been given more responsibility to oversee the development and refreshment of IT equipment at the school. The problem with Schools is that there is little to no budget to really fund a whole new IT suite straight away so I was wondering if anyone else has the experience of going through this madness and managing to have devices that are compliant with the current up to date OS from Windows and not breaking the bank every time. Any help or experience would be greatly appreciated!
