Had this going on for weeks if im honest. Didnt want to make a fuss coz you know what regional broadband is like.

 

Other websites load really quick but im waiting about 10 seconds for a refresh on Edugeek.net

Yeh there have been spots of outage today when I have been restarting things with more tweaks. Generally I am finding the first fresh visit takes a bit to load (10 sec before page starts loading) but after its quite quick.

I wonder though, still being indexed pretty quickly, worth telling the robots to go away for a little while to see if that helps?

At this point in time it's pretty quick... however about 4pm I couldn't get in at all

It is as quick as it has ever been for me at this point but did slow down to a crawl when there were lots of people on last night.

I say it is fine during this time, as i bet everyone has gone to sleep!

 

In the day time i do strungle, sometimes i just give up and try again later which tends to be when i get home, or after 5pm when no one is using our broadband a majority of people are on their way home too.

I have done another round of tweaks and maintence last night and also did some load testing. I am thinking this is pretty much as good as it gets for now. There is only a couple more things I can do without us getting another server and those things wont drastically boost performance I think.

Hopefully it will be better today.

Great work ZH, this is the fastest the site has ever been for me in school or at home. It is actually now useable inside our network without lag rage. There are currently at 476 users online and is still responcive and renders fast and clean even on this old IE6 test box. Thanks for all your time and effort in optimizing the site for us all.

Thank heavens its working well over the lunch

I still have a few things to go in that will make minor improvements but as long as the big settings are working well (apache/php/mysql etc) then its good.
