petben Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 Hi, has anyone found any good companies to buy Sophos AV and ransom from. I am looking at 100% increase on our previous 3 yr quote from Phoenix. Thanks
andy_b Posted February 2, 2024 Posted February 2, 2024 Still purchase through the LA, still can't be beaten on price.
MicrodigitUK Posted February 4, 2024 Posted February 4, 2024 (edited) The SWFfL negotiate a deal is still available on Phoenix’s website. We still get licenses at this price off of Phoenix. However last time around Sophos tried to put the price up as we had been sold some upgrades MAT to have centralised portal. Had to have a meeting between Sophos account manager and Phoenix account manager where they said we can’t match the SWGfL negotiate price with the MAT portal!!! But strangely enough you could just buy it with the basic non top level features. So we just threatened to cancel our central Sophos and we will just bye the SWGfL deal per school. Magically Sophos backed down on price increases and left the central MAT Features in place and honoured the SWGfL pricing. To be honest I think Sophos account manager are trying to pull a fast one with price increases for MATs but if you push back and use the SWGfL pricing as a baseline they will eventually back time and allow Phoenix to sell it to you at around that price. https://www.phoenixs.co.uk/swgfl-sophos/ Edited February 4, 2024 by MicrodigitUK 1
Chclark Posted February 12, 2024 Posted February 12, 2024 We are in the same boat, phoenix price is 4x the amount we paid 3 years ago. We looked around and lgfl offer pricing and it was cheaper, however sophos are saying as a exisiting customer we are not eligible, informed them they need to sort the pricing or we will be looking elsewhere. Phoenix seem more interested trying to sell bitdeffender at the swgfl pricing. Interested to hear what others are doing.
petben Posted February 13, 2024 Author Posted February 13, 2024 Ive just renewed. Phoenix honoured the website price but its annual (rather than 3 years as before) and you need to buy it through their website rather than a PO. https://www.phoenixs.co.uk/swgfl-sophos/

As they have told me that pricing cannot be used by anyone outside of it.

petben Posted February 13, 2024 Author Posted February 13, 2024 yes we are, but we dont use them for anything else. internet etc.
jonnykewell1 Posted February 21, 2024 Posted February 21, 2024 We're going through this at the minute. We are from Leeds and have purchased through SWGFL for years. We'll threaten to leave and they'll sort it out i'm sure
PureMatt Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 I've always purchased via SWGfL - but now we're a Trust we want the benefit of a management central portal, which I'm told you don't get with the SWGfL offering. Over the last 6 to 12 months I've had loads of problems dealing with Sophos and getting costs down to what they should be. Trying to get parity with SWGfL pricing for a purchase as large as ours shouldn't be that difficult. In fact, i agreed this with Sophos when i first moved from SWGfL to phoenix/sophos via an account manager. However, costs have rocketed up since then. During the summer I agreed with Sophos a fixed cost for onboarding schools over the next 12 months into our contract. Now i want to onboard a school they're trying to give me the same UNIT price, but for a shorter duration. Absolute chancers. I've given up on them, the juice isn't worth the squeeze - i simply don't have time arguing back and forth. Time to look for a new AV - any recommendations?! 1
jonnykewell1 Posted March 5, 2024 Posted March 5, 2024 (edited) We had a call this week to which they argued that they wouldn't be able to offer the same price as SWGfL because of their bulk buying. The thing that makes us laugh is SWGfL will be losing lots of schools now from around the country who will no longer be purchasing licensing through them so they're going to have a load of unused licenses that they've now had to pay for and can't sell. We're open to recommendations for the suppliers too. Yes it's a pain to reinstall but we're not going to be held to ransom over it. Edited March 5, 2024 by jonnykewell1
Dan2025 Posted July 16, 2025 Posted July 16, 2025 (edited) In this situation currently, renewal quote was 330% more than the SWGFL price. Not eligible for that 'apparently' despite being a SW school and paying at this rate before. Was also quoted bit defender in the same email at almost double what SWGFL are offering it at.. both partnered with the same supplier quoting me! so definetly a little frustrated. Anyone have any thoughts? I was quite blunt with the supplier that I'd look elsewhere. Edited July 16, 2025 by Danwinchelsea
sigma Posted July 16, 2025 Posted July 16, 2025 I believe SWGfl offer their BitDefender price to all schools, its just Sophos they don't/can't. Softcat seem to be OK at finding "offers". I have purchased the Trend Micro Enterprise product with a BOGOFF (3 years for the price of 2) from them when that was available in the past when other options were either unsuitable or too expensive.

Thanks for this, I was hoping not to move but it may be the case that I'm forced too. The bitdefender price through SWGFL actually looks pretty good but it's a shame it's also through Phoenix who haven't impressed at all with this. Especially as they didn't alert me to there being a better SWGFL price for defender and instead quoted me almost double. Pretty shocking imo.
K_Renshaw Posted November 17, 2025 Posted November 17, 2025 If anyone is interested, SEGfL are offering Sophos Intercept X at discounted rates, available nationwide. 3 year licence from Feb 2026 to April 2029 £7.90 per workstation (3 year price) £15.50 per server (3 year price) Email [email protected] if you want to buy into this enterprise licence Sophos Flyer Nov 25.pdf 1 2
browolf Posted January 22 Posted January 22 We originally had it through LCC with a massive discount but they are switching to defender and we want to stick with Sophos or an alternative. The SEGfL price is pretty similar to what we've already been quoted but the company want us to either pay 3 years upfront or lease them through another party - is that the same everywhere?

I managed to get Sophos through SWGFL via Phoenix in the end, I think they're less stubborn with new customers. It's also now on a yearly basis rather than 3. https://swgfl.phoenixs.co.uk/SWGfL-Sophos/index.aspx 1

Olliedawg Posted January 26 Posted January 26 I can recommend Wave9 for Sophos licencing, great price. Beat our renewal with our old partner by a few thousand.. 1
altecsole Posted January 26 Posted January 26 It's worth checking with your county council. Cumbria offer Sophos Endpoint as part of their annual Internet Service provision - maybe others do similar?

ITGuyNW Posted January 28 Posted January 28 Has anyone looked at a Sophos alternative? or would you only stick with Sophos?
