TwistedHelixis Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 I recently got a quote from Dell for a new server, but the Governors would like another quote, so I emailed HP. HP replied saying they don't sell servers directly in the UK and pointed me to a list of resellers. So far I have emailed 3 resellers and none have replied. We don't have much time as the school needs to pay for the server before March. Anyone recommend a HP server reseller? Thanks
Olliedawg Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Contact EverythingICT, they will reach out to suppliers for you & gather a few quotes Failing that, check out HPE Rack Servers on Servers Direct . I've bought a dell server from them before, no hassle at all 1
Sephiroth Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 (edited) Depending on what you require and if refurbished servers are an option, I would advise asking @ICTDirect_Dave at ICT-Direct (The sister company, Bargain Hardware is good as an indication of what you can get, but contact ICT-Direct or message Dave to see what they can do) or ServerSource. ICT-Direct tend to have cheaper but slightly older A+ to B grade refurbs and ServerSource are primarily a factory seconds* outlet with much newer kit but at a higher price-point to ICT-Direct. I've used both and strongly recommend both. Both also offer good warranties. I would not buy brand new servers now unless I absolutely had to. *Edit: Correction - the majority of sourced stock is excess inventory or cancelled orders direct from Dell. howartp Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 kelly DOT fox at airnowtechnology with dotcom on the end. Kelly knows her stuff with HP and has friends in high places; I use her colleague for 90% of my purchases but she defers to Kelly for HP. 1
mavhc Posted January 15, 2024 Posted January 15, 2024 Do HP still require you to get a support contract to be able to download firmware to fix the bugs HP wrote? 2
TheHyperTechie Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 I used Stone www.stonegroup.co.uk for a couple of HP server quotes late last year. Ask for Jamie, he is awesome!
Rob_D Posted January 16, 2024 Posted January 16, 2024 We mostly go to Softcat or CCS Media for hardware quotes, both are HP Partners.
