Hi Folks,

 

Long time since I've worked in schools or posted here. just got a bit of a weird non it issue and wasn't quite sure if I'm overthinking it or should just let it drop.

 

Found a kids phone as i was walking the dog, luckily managed to re unite it with it's owner.

14 year old lad, probably 1 of 2 local schools he'd be in.

 

But it was slathered in Nazi and Bristol city nazi fan club stickers. think BC 88 hardcore fans and SS skulls and helmets.

 

problem is I only have a name and age, is that even enough to bother reporting to those schools?

 

Misses is telling me to drop it, if i'd found it in school i sure as hell wouldn't have, but then i'd of known the kid or his details.

Can only agree with @3s-gtech, though it's probably worth giving each school a call. Obviously they can't confirm they have a kid matching that range, but if his phone is plastered in those kinds of stickers I have a hard time thinking they won't know exactly who you mean if he's on their roll.

I would try to contact local schools first, but maybe also Bristol City FC?

Certainly needs reporting, as above contact the DSL at both of the schools and refer to Prevent. It may be that the schools don't see what's on his phone case, but it should be looked into as who knows what else is going on?

Agree with all of the above - refer to Prevent, local schools’ DSL and LA safeguarding.

@just_david the rule of thumb with any concern like this is that you should always report if you’re not sure. It’s up to the relevant DSLs/authorities to decide if there’s actually a problem. Better to report and be wrong than not report and regret it
