Keyboard Recommendations for classrooms.

Hey all,

About to replace a bunch of keyboards in the classrooms, currently filled with HP PR1101U which is a pretty basic keyboard and looking to change from these.

But thought I'd check to see what everyone else is running and where they got them from. Happy for wired and wireless suggestions.

Aside form "whatever came with the PC" we've got a lot of logitech k120 keyboards that seem to have lasted pretty well.

On the whole the out of box Acer keyboards have lasted OK, and keys can be replaced (apart from the space bar)

 

Currently we're on Canyon (scan.co.uk) keyboard & mouse sets. They're cheap & nasty but the kids seem to break everything regardless. Main issue is that they are usually destroyed when key caps are pulled off.

 

K120s have always been pretty good, and would be my choice.

 

Our burn rate is probably two per IT suite per day if averaged out.

stick to a brand, Logitech or Microsoft. You'll find off brand keyboards (and mice) use cables that are too thin and poorly attached so pupils damage them really quickly.

 

Pupils will get the cable stuck, pull on the keyboard and if they don't drop it (the keyboard) they pull harder until the cable is free. On a cheapo keyboard this'll rip the cable out of the keyboard and its gone!

K120s, with an overstock for replacing picked keys and stolen spacebar stabilisers. They're great keyboards.

I buy job lots off ebay and claim them back - currently running Lenovo Essential Wired - they're quite hard to pick the keys off of, even if you use a spoon!

 

I bought almost 200 of them for 50p each on an Auction.

 

Previously we've used Logitech K120, Dell QuietKey.
