Hi

We are a 0365 school. One of the student have procured a chrome book and have asked me to setup the chrome book installing the office applications.

Will it be ok for me to set up a google account for the student, set up the chrome book install the office from play store and give the details when collecting the chrome book?

Please suggest as how to go about with this situation.

Thanks

Is this a BYOD school?

If so, you shouldn't be having to do anything, it's for the kid to make their own Google account. You could assist with downloading Office (which should work, IIRC ChromeOS can run Android apps now), or applying any WiFi certificates, but the pupil's personal account you should have nought to do with.

I would have thought that the Office web apps would be preferable to the Android apps on a Chromebook. That would certainly be my recommendation to end users. If the device is their own, they can use whatever Google account they want, and just sign into their school MS account in the browser.

At least, that's the solution that will scale the best for you from 1 user to many, without you having to do anything at all.

As others have said, MS expect you to use the webapps on Chromebooks if you pop the older ones on they are EOL and promote the website version.
