kennysarmy Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Any schools that use Sharepoint / OneDrive and Securly web filtering? I have a question about how you are complying with KCSIE 23. Cheers
Noxid_w Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 We are, I'm curious as to what your question is going to be?
gszech Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 We just signed up for Securly. What's the question ?
KK20 Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 which part of KCSIE 23 would the above not comply with?
ITWil Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 We use Securly and O365 so I'm curious to know what concerns you have with it complying with the KCSIE update for 23...
kennysarmy Posted September 13, 2023 Author Posted September 13, 2023 I'm awaiting the question myself from the DSL, will update when I have it... All I have so far is....."Do you know of other schools that use sharepoint/one drive/securely so I can make contact with them regarding what they are doing about the KCSIE23 changes?"
kennysarmy Posted September 13, 2023 Author Posted September 13, 2023 (edited) I'm awaiting the question myself from the DSL, will update when I have it... All I have so far is....."Do you know of other schools that use sharepoint/one drive/securely so I can make contact with them regarding what they are doing about the KCSIE23 changes?" The question from the DSL is: "I just want to see how they are able to safeguard their students appropriately using these systems" & Essentially, how do they safeguard their pupils if they are not able to access the materials they save onto their one drive. E.g. if a child writes a note about ending their life and saving it on their onedrive, how are staff able to filter to find this and act accordingly. Edited September 13, 2023 by kennysarmy
PrimaryNetMan Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Probably thinking about Securly Aware. With Google Workspace it scans Gmail and Drive files (Docs, Sheets) and send alerts for things such as adult content, self harm etc. I believe it offers for the same for Office 365 & One Drive. 1
gszech Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 I thought that from 1st September DSL should know all the e-safety answers since they are responsible for ordering the system. 1
CyBeRkId2002 Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 In my opinion there are filtering platforms which provide some level of monitoring effectiveness. And safeguarding platforms which provide some level of filtering effectiveness. I don't feel there is a service out there (at present!) that covers both aspects in a way that is fit for purpose and has led most schools to adopt a separate platform for each. I think the closest might be something like securly *if* you are a purely Google School but if you have to support any other devices, online platforms such as Microsoft etc both in and out of school usually a two platform solution is necessary. I would hope this would change over the coming year or two, with filtering platforms providing agent based monitoring tools and vice versa but for now I am personally not aware of one.
CyBeRkId2002 Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Oh, and for info we use Securly and Classroom.Cloud in conjunction with each other
rogerdnixon Posted September 14, 2023 Posted September 14, 2023 If anyone is asking questions - Cyder Distributions has a nice page with Securly's doc on what you need to do and how their products cover it. https://cyberdistribution.co.uk/student-safety/ - I've used these at out Trust.
