PowerEdge R630 service pack

A couple of years ago I installed server 2019 on a Dell PowerEdge R630 plus installed the service pack I downloaded from HP. Now with all the talk of schools getting hacked it's making me think that in the future if I need to reinstall the server would I need to install the service pack again? I'm only asking as I seem to have misplaced it and I couldn't see it on the Dell service site either.

 

Anyone know where I can find it or better still a more recent service pack that would work?

Why would HP's website carry a service pack for a Dell server? I don't understand.

 

Unless you're talking about Windows service packs, but those haven't been a thing since Windows Server 2008 R2. As long as you've got the latest hotfix installed, you're up to date.

 

On Dell's website, there is a very handy utility called the Software Update Utility (SUU), which is a large ISO which contains driver, firmware and application updates for Dell servers. That will autodetect driver, firmware, iDRAC and BIOS versions of the hardware it's being run on and update them to the latest version that's on the disc. If the server has OpenManage installed, it should also update that iirc.

I should have written Dell and not HP!

I'm not sure they do service packs for Dell, last time I did a R730 about 5 months ago I jus grabbed the firmware I wanted. Dell is a lot easier than HP I find but that could be me :-)

Depending on the version of iDRAC you have on your Dell server, you can update most things through it simply by putting downloads.dell.com as the source

 

Maintenance > System Update > Source

 

Change it from local to HTTPS or HTTP

Thanks everyone. The iDRAC on this server is running 2.75.100.75 so it was a little different for me but the iDRAC update settings can be found at

 

iDRAC Settings > Update and Rollback

 

and there's a number of updates available, SAS firmware, lifecycle controller firmware, BIOS, network firmware and the Dell OS driver pack so perhaps best to wait until August and then I'll do one update at a time just to be safe.
