titch Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 This has been really bugging me! I saw a phrase in a thread with a word for asking lots of questions back on a stupid ticket so the person that asks the initial silly question gives up because its more work to reply to the questions than it is to fix the simple problem themselves.... Please help me with this! Thanks
titch Posted May 16, 2023 Author Posted May 16, 2023 None of these are the one I was thinking of. It was an "official" term. Similar to a cover my a*** email where you want full details of the thing and specific instructions so there is a paper trail to follow when the thing you know will go, have advised will go wrong and eventually does wrong.
pete Posted May 16, 2023 Posted May 16, 2023 Wally reflector? You don't really need many questions. Perfectly reasonable ones (let me know a time when X is available for Y) can result in tumbleweeds. Hey, can you do X to my laptop? Sure, pick a couple of times when you don't need it for 30 mins so we can make sure someone's available to work on it. *tumbleweeds* *pokes requestor* *pokes their line manager* *Closes ticket* Hey, can you do X to my laptop? *refers them to the initial response* 4
titch Posted May 16, 2023 Author Posted May 16, 2023 That's the one. Didn't realise it was originally from Dilbert. Maybe a bit controversial now! Thanks anyway. Been bugging me
