Hello,

I want to add 3 HDD to a RAID 5 array. The exisiting discs spin at 10,000rpm, the new discs would spin at 15k.

Should I expect any compatibility issues?

Thanks,

Ben

I think this should work but never done it myself. My guess would be that the 15k disks would just run at 10k. Could you not replace ALL the disks with 15k ones? If not, suggest you contact the server tech support people to clarify.

Your array will just run as slowly as the slowest disks (or thereabouts, you might find it writes to the quick ones quicker but it won't make much end-user difference).

It will work fine and no issues, and tbh you won't notice it really having mixed speeds, but I did notice when I changed all mine to 15K from 10K.
