EssentialRug Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Hey, We used to use a company called RRIT to collect all of our obselete equipment/electrical waste. They would wipe all data and issue us with a certificate of destruction. We've been trying to get in contact with them this week but it looks as they are no longer in service. Just wondering if anyone else in the South West area knows of a company that is still in service doing this? We've been in touch with a few companies but they all want to charge us a fee. Thanks!

We've started using the following company and even though they're based up country, they do free nationwide collections. We've found them to be very helpful. However, they do require a minimum of 20 qualifying items (desktops, laptops and other items) for a free collection. Once full we organise a collection and they replace the bin with an empty one. There is no charge for us. Works out really well for us as we don't need to store old equipment in the building until it is collected. 1

Can provide a large bin + cages if required. 1

We also use this company too, it's a much easier way for us to manage equipment to be recycled. 1

TechMonkey Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Not wanting to follow the crowd but we started using EnviroElectronics and they have been fab. The bin makes it so much easier as we don't have to wait till the holiday to make it easier for collection. We fill the bin and they take it away. They also take batteries so we have setup collection pots around the school for those and they can do UPS batteries, which we have a few we weren't sure what to do with. 1

Although, you do need to have a certain amount of qualifying items such as switches, printers etc for a free collection! 3

LeMarchand Posted March 15, 2023 Posted March 15, 2023 Depending on what you have, Enviro may not be that keen (we're South Coast). When I contacted them they would have done a collection, but more as a "one off" - possibly as when we get to the WEEE stage it's probably going to run at a loss to them! Shame, as I loved the idea of having a bin/cage. Thanks for the other suggestions as our old "go to" has become a bit unreliable.

Might be worth asking again, unless you have been in touch recently. We do have a bin, and have had a collection.

They turned up on time and took everything away, they seem to cover just about everywhere. Though, thinking about it, I think you're pretty close to me - maybe you have more stuff that may have value!
