Just been told I need to setup 40 new iPads. Only directives I've been given are it must be done ASAP and for zero cost, using free apps.

Previous iPads were on a shared account, using Mosyle, which asks for the Apple ID all the time. I hoping to go down a cleaner, official route.

They are going to be shared on a trolley - primary sen school, so no users need setting up, I'm splitting them into groups of 10.

We have a ASM account but it has never been used it. Should I all add the iPads to that? Can ASM allocate apps, create folders and set wallpapers? Or is that what Mosyle is for? I can't find a step by step guide anywhere, only sign up for JAMF, for which I have no budget.

Thanks.

AFAIK you need an MDM to do that list. Not done the folder bit, but the free version of Mosyle will definitely do the rest. Ours just press the "Home" button and they're in. Mosyle set it up for us, but I could look at how they set it up.

You need to sign into ASM and check if the pads are in there (they should be) and then assign them to Mosyle if that isn't already where they are in the first place.

If you're not a follower of "The Apple Way" prepare for more pain than if THRUSH attacked Del Floria's.

Can not be done without an MDM, iPads do not require any Apple iD to push content to them via an MDM..

1. Ensure your free Mosyle ASM account is up and running with up to date certs for the MDM and VPP

2. Ask your reseller to add them to your ASM account, give the reseller your Org I.D. and ask them for their reseller ID

3. Assign iPads to MDM in ASM once they appear.

4. Deploy iPads with restrictions and apps they require.

DONE.
