Dos_Box Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 It has come to our attention that several of our members have received PM spam from one of our members 'Squirrel', inviting you to partake in membership of a site I cannot post here due to it getting far more Google coverage from this one post on EduGeek that the actual site being touted will in a week. If you receive a PM entitled 'Help Wanted' please feel free to deal with as you see fit as many of our members currently have.

GrumbleDook Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I've said it before and I'll say it again ... there is plenty of space out there for other avenues for information ... the main problem is that people don't realise what it takes to run a site, why trying to do a site on your own *really* never works and that it needs to have a purpose form the word go ... and it needs to be as unique as possible (or have a unique approach!) Where I draw the line is spamming our members ... even after we have tried to be helpful in previous conversations too. Best of luck to him if he wants to do it, but the welcome mat has now been removed.

GrumbleDook Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Some other members here have tried to get sites up and running (before and after EG), and have reluctantly had to throw in the towel due to the work it takes ... but they are courteous and have always had a good relationship with others here ... Heck, I briefly did one 4 1/2 years ago ... to try and duplicate and support the work in a newsgroup ... I even managed to get 5 members. And people wonder why I was more than happy to see EG come along and someone else do all the work? Unfortunately ... the case this time is that the site is not working, he wants to drum up some more members and he is spamming (targeted, but still spamming)!
