Managing School Facebook Accounts

Hi all,

 

Quick question - how is everyone else managing school Facebook accounts given the platforms insistence that you cannot have Dummy account (schoolname.initials for example) and they must be linked to real life people?

 

• Are you simply using people's real accounts and linking that way?
  
• Do you have a backup dummy account for access, should people leave etc.
  
• Do you have a policy in place specifically for your social media users, or does it form part of your AUP?
  

 

Any guidance greatly appreciated!

Take a look into a meta business account. No need for a personal facebook account, you can just register using email. Then transfer in your meta assests, FB pages, intragram etc.

I have looked into this and it seems it is still asking for a standard FB registration - no way to do a specific Meta Business one - or am I missing something?

We had people's personal accounts linked as admins and ensured there was always more than one person as admin, at least one person from IT on there as well.

 

This was fine until I left and the Marketing person didn't add anyone to replace me and then managed to remove herself. Luckily, they also hadn't removed me, so I sorted it (begrudgingly)

Sorry yes seems like you're right, bizarrely you need one personal facebook account to sign up for meta business. Then you can start the invite additional admins using just work emails. Maybe you can remove the personal account once set up?

Why not just create accounts on Facebook using work email for this purpose rather than linking personal accounts.

Created a few works facebook accounts with sch email addresses to use to manage the facebook page. You really should not be using personal accounts to manage a school facebook page.

Because Facebook closes duplicate or fake accounts. Also against their terms of service.
