cheekycharly Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 Anyone here using the Adobe Classroom licensing and know how it works with Azure logons? I take it you install Adobe CC on the selected laptops and pupils login using their Azure logon. I figure from being logged on you can then login to Adobe CC using an email as long as they are assigned a license.
AB103 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 That's what I thought you can do, just purchased 25 device licenses and about to set this up! 1

AB103 Posted January 19, 2023 Posted January 19, 2023 Will do, bought 25 classroom licenses for £580.25 from our reseller!
cheekycharly Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 Will do, bought 25 classroom licenses for £580.25 from our reseller! I guess that's Ex VAT ?
cheekycharly Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 Yep! Or £696.30 with VAT Fair play that as your reseller isn't taking much on that as retail Adobe comes to £633.60 when purchased direct. Keep me posted.
kennysarmy Posted May 18, 2023 Posted May 18, 2023 Hi all, Just looking at replacing our ageing Adobe CS6 with CC. Bit confused over the pros and cons of the device versus named user licence - can anyone give me a quite summary? With CS6 we have it on 250 devices and they're obviously free for any of our 1400 students or 200 staff to use. (Though in reality a lot less probably ever use it) Thanks. PS. We're an O365 school.

You'd probably go with what's cheaper or more convenient. Device licenses where the users have to use specific machines or user licenses where if you install Creative Cloud on the machine, you can install However, the management of CC is an absolute nightmare. We have user licensing, because we only have <25 users that use it (media guy and a few for Adobe Acrobat to convert PDFs to Word) and the only way we can get it to deploy is to manually install Creative Cloud on the user's machine. They log into CC and then press install on the application they want to use, wait for it install and away they go. The deployment of packages has simply not worked every time we've used it.
cheekycharly Posted May 18, 2023 Author Posted May 18, 2023 Once the software is installed on the machine for me you can log off and on as another user and simply log in and use the software. I find no students stuck installing/downloading as I have already done it on the machines prior to them using it. I am using named user licenses linked to Federated accounts on O365.
kennysarmy Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 The time has come for me to jump on the Creative Cloud bandwagon. We've gone 300 user licences so I'm now looking at the best way to package up and deploy the applications our Art and Drama departments require. During the package build process I've come across quite a few options, and wondered if anyone has any experience of the best way to go with some of these? Creative Cloud Desktop options Enable self-service install This option provides end-users with the ability to install and update applications from the Apps Panel. Default TICKED Allow non-admins to update and install apps Enables self-service for end users that lack administrative rights. Default TICKED Disable auto-update for end-users End users will not be able to automatically update their applications. Disable file syncing Suppress the automatic syncing of files on client systems. Enable browser based login Enables browser based login via Creative Cloud Desktop Application. Enable install of beta apps The option provides end-users with the ability to install and update beta apps. Management options Enable Remote Update Manager Remotely invoke the updater on a client machine. This allows you to seamlessly manage your client systems install. Default TICKED Redirect to internal Adobe update server If you have set up an update server using AUSST and configured it in the preferences section then select this option to redirect clients to your internal server. Create a folder for extensions and include the UPIA command-line tool Install both your Creative Cloud applications and your extensions as part of a single deployment process. Install package to custom install directory Install the applications to a custom install directory. Configure the directory in the preferences section
SayLHP Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 If your deployed package hangs, try removing XD and allow users to install that themselves. Caused no-end of issues trying to build it into a package. Creative Cloud Desktop optionsEnable self-service install - tickedAllow non-admins to update and install apps - tickedDisable auto-update for end-users - not tickedDisable file syncing - not tickedEnable browser based login - tickedEnable install of beta apps - not ticked Management options Enable Remote Update Manager - not ticked Redirect to internal Adobe update server - based on above option, so nope. My users can install and uninstall different programs within the cloud app without admin rights, they can update if they wish. I was advised against setting up the remote update manager as it was "a ballache". Then again a year ago I wasn't in a position to play around with it, I needed to get it deployed asap. 1
Cw2k Posted July 5, 2023 Posted July 5, 2023 Remote updater works but is limited to updating with in the current version so won’t migrate installs to the latest main release 1

Thanks for your reply. When you say they can install, my users will mainly be using the applications on specific devices within our Art department, what does "install" actually mean? Surely when we run the package installer as admins it will install everything we've chosen - does "installing" in the user context just mean making it available to them? I don't want it installing dozens of times if that's what each user does as the hard drives will soon run out of space. Cheers.
Frodo_Baggins Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 In the package creator you can specify a list of apps to deploy (one installer that initialises once and installs the list.) or self service, different use cases - we have a set list of CC apps to deploy to suites and certain teaching PC's and then self service on staff laptops to avoid bloat. 1

Will do some further testing on the packages and I'm still waiting for our 300 named user licence to get added to our console, but I'm getting there - I just know how quickly September will come around. 1

I've taken to giving my users a little freedom, I've preinstalled programs in the PC suites that are definitely required for the curriculum (Dreamweaver, Animate, Premiere, Illustrator, Photoshop) but on pupil & staff laptops I've only deployed Creative Cloud app, they can select any app and install it themselves on their laptops (they just launch Creative Cloud app, login with their HWB accounts and click install next to any of the apps) 1

Works much smoother - haven't noticed bandwidth to be a big issue on a 1 gig line as usually only one class at time make a change and once it's done it's done. Has anyone tried installing a local version of the download/update cache? 2
cheekycharly Posted July 12, 2023 Author Posted July 12, 2023 Same for me that SayLHP. Since giving the pupils the ability to install additional apps I have found "0" are bothered about trying to add other apps. 1
TechMonkey Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 Apologies for the Necro, but I'm looking at the options for Creative Cloud and I'm getting no quotes near the £2-£3 range. Have the prices increased, am I just not ordering enough or am I ordering the wrong thing? Quotes say Creative Cloud for Enterprise and we are ordering under 600 named seats. Many thanks
howartp Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 You want "Adobe Creative Cloud for Education All Apps Multiple Platforms K-12 School Site License Subscription Renewal" or something to that effect. £4.25 for 2200 licenses. 1
TechMonkey Posted December 14, 2023 Posted December 14, 2023 Ok that is the range I am getting, people were talking about getting around £2.80 earlier in the thread which would have been much nicer.

I'd still double-check though because you've mentioned Enterprise, whereas discounts are more likely for the Education version.
