Hi all,

 

We are currently having a Senso trial for classroom management and safeguarding, not that impressed with the remote management side of it and policy you apply to the machine can be removed by restarting the computer, but the safeguarding seems to work ok.

I have previously used ABtutor and found the remote side of that ok and keyword reporting was ok.

 

We are a Windows and Chromebook school

 

So I am wondering if you have any recommendations for classroom management and what you currently use?

We are trialing LanSchool at the moment, going into class this afternoon to test it fully on the Chromebooks.

 

I have also been in touch with Netsupport but as were in a trial at the moment I have put it off until later.

We use Impero Education Pro and i've just renewed for 3 years.

Currently with Impero Ed Pro, however I'm starting to get a little frustrated with it. Especially teachers not being able to pick up PC's consistently which seems to have been a long term issue.

We use Netsupport here and cant fault it. Does everything we need.

Impero clients often fail to reconnect to the server, the whole thing was written in the days of desktops with lan connections and no sleep mode, doesn't seem to have advanced to laptops on wifi going to sleep often.

 

I've not found any cloud based alternatives that have as many features though

Bit of feedback on our trial this afternoon.

 

1. Setup is quite simple.

2. Teacher had added students and started class.

3. Class showed up in the dashboard but it wouldn't allow the teacher to take control - (Invalid State error)

3. Interaction from the pupil is required and we can't see a way of changing this, ie: Yes you can view my screen or No you cannot.

 

 

I had managed to get it to work initially on 1 device with me as the teacher but once I had logged out I kept on getting an error stating Invalid State. see image below

 

Deleting and recreating a class didn't help either.

 

Seems to be a bit of hit and miss, there's too much pupil interaction required for us, but it is a simple setup although it just doesn't seem to work very well in practice every time.

When I did get it to work it blanked the screen, I could push websites to open in new tabs, I could view (with the pupil's permission) I could share the screen.

The chat function was turned off we don't need that.

 

Overall we thinks it needs more work for us anyway.
