Replacement Laptop keyboard keys?

Hi,

 

Does anyone have any recommendations for a seller of replacement keys or keyboards for a laptop, it is for a HP 14s-dq1504sa.

 

Can't really find much other than ebay and that's mostly for the keyboard replacements.

My experience is that he main problem is the fragile and fiddly things that fix the keys onto the keyboard

 

and how on Earth you get them to connect the 2

 

I have often replaced a whole keyboard when I had all the keys and sufficient connector (over several laptops) but just couldn;t get the bit into place properly

I've had a look and we can't help with this one. Too new / not businessey-enough I'm afraid.

 

You could search ebay for replacement keys. just be sure to get a chiclet that matches your keyboard.

what in the name of $deity is a chiclet???

 

I presume it is the fiddly bit that goes between the key and the board???

 

good idea to mention it - sometimes knowing the official name for something makes all the difference to finding stuff on the WWW

yeh, at home one of my kids broke the cursor key on her laptop, ebay had them, but that make model of dell laptops had 3 different possibilities, all looked more or less the same, I got the wrong one, so they're using a usb keyboard now

Replacement keys are the bane of my life.

 

We have 100+ HP 255 G7s here and even though its the same model, they have two different key grips so you can't mix and match between the two. The ones I need to replace are ALWAYS not the same type I have spare.

Some devices require you to change the whole top panel instead of just the keyboard.

 

They're intentionally designed to be disposed of and not repaired, but replaced.

 

The cost of parts and labor to do that is more than the device is worth.

 

Deliberate planned obsolescence I'm afraid.
