I'm looking for opinions please, I am currently in discussions with the powers that be about some CPD for ICT support for next year. Between us there are a range of courses that may be of interest, but the main ones are:

  • CompTIA A+
  • CompTIA Security+
  • Microsoft AZ-900
  • Microsoft AZ-500

Due to the range of courses I was thinking that a subscription to something like CBT Nuggets would be worth a shout, it has been some time since I looked into this, are they still the main players in this market or are the likes of Pluralsight worth a look? There is a bit of a price difference between them; that said, is the quality of the content worth the price? Should there be any other platforms I should be looking at?

Thanks

Couldn't recommend CBT Nuggets enough!!

Used Plurasight before and found it pretty useless but .... CBT Nuggets is used nearly every day for bits and bobs including virtual labs.

Doing the same and weighing up Pluralsight vs CBT Nuggets vs ?? for my lot.

@tangotech - what annoyed you about Pluralsight that CBT Nuggets did better?

And has anyone successfully managed to verify non-profit status with either platform?

with platforms like CBT Nuggets, do you / would you subscribe to get through a single targeted exam, of have a rolling subscription and dip in and out of courses?

I just self studied through AZ-104 (seat of my pants on some of the questions) and was wondering if CBT et al would be useful for MS-700 Teams exam that's pencilled in for Sept....

Hi,

just looking into CPD opportunities for our team of 3, and CB Nuggets looks good, however, I might struggle to get the funding for 3 of us to access the software.

Those of you that use CB Nuggets, is it possible to share one account? how does it record the courses viewed?

Thanks

That is the problem in your scenario, it tracks progress against the account i.e. what video was last viewed so you can pick up where you left off.

It is proving a useful tool for us and my team have even looked into things they wouldn't have bothered with otherwise, just because it is there.

CB Nuggets is a good source but another option, which I like the most is

https://www.itpro.tv/

Their talk show format to learn IT is really engaging for me. You can also watch the live program free of cost (at least few months ago) before buying it.

They also do free weekend, where you can have access to all the courses free of charge for the weekend.

I'm looking to step up from IT Technician to IT manager and beyond. I have a 10 year+ university networking degree and that's it. Would CBT Nuggets (or any others mentioned here) be a good place to start beefing up my certs and training? Edited by ITGuyNW
