I'm starting to sway toward.... is this a mistake.. leaving SIMs..

Recency bias will be a thing, we're quick to forget the client updates and broken patches

"SIMS wasn't slow when the internet is slow"

Perception is reality, performance issues, pages not loading, workarounds, power user complaints and functions slow will weigh heavily on senior staff when it comes to renewal. People are reverting to paper registers due to the performance.

If Bromcom can considerably improve performance this term, recency bias will kick in again.

We had issues with attendance this morning as well.

The system really needs some refactoring when it comes to performance. Bromcom still loads massive lists of data sometimes on first click, seems very wasteful.

Adding 300+ schools over the summer most likely has doubled the load.

Sims had exactly the same issues when they redesigned the home page and were showing too many widgets. Success isnt a unique issue :)

I rather like the new interface and it was put out to consultation months ago with focus groups if you wanted to make input into it. The new UI was also announced last week in the stream.

Anyways - the new UI from a teachers point of view is really nice. Seating plans are much easier to do and the fact is auto saves attendance just makes life easier.

We've found a work around for behaviour but still have a ticket open with Bromcom about it (you can access it from some routes but not others), I've also whitelisted the following on our internet filter which has improved speeds for some users but it's still not as quick as it used or should be: -

*.fontawesome.com

*.walkme.com

*.getbeamer.com

code.highcharts.com

cdn.mouseflow.com

cdn.jsdelivr.net

whatsnew.bromcomcloud.com

cdnjs.cloudflare.com

Interesting, I'll try whitelisting those too. Any speed bump would be great!

Which behaviour issues are you having? We are finding it mainly on iPads but I've had 2 people say they struggle on the desktop. But only 2?

I've still got the hundreds of emails on SIMs issues we suffered over the years. I didn't forget about the patches and updates crashing the system or the extra hours keeping it all working.

However, We've suffered far more Bromcom issues in 6 months since joining them compared to the previous 18 months on SIMs. I won't include the comparison of our parent/student portal reliability, because our previous system very rarely had any issues in 5 years..

Again, I just hope these are teething issues with all the new schools joining them and the dust settles and reliability truly kicks in.

We're unable to log behaviour events when using the link on the register page to get to behaviour (blue silhouette with a green tick icon) - the majority of our staff are on Mac though so it could well be a MacOS related issue as Bromcom insist they can't replicate it... Although they also keep telling me to press F12 to view the console log despite me telling them multiple times we're a Mac school and have been the entire time we've been Bromcom customers (10 years).

We see the issue across multiple devices (2012 MacBook Pros, M1 MacBook Airs, etc.), MacOS releases and in both Safari and Firefox (again tested in a variety of versions).

We've been suffering from extremely slow access (to the point of being unusable) the past 2 days during the morning rush (8:30-9:30) - everyone else struggling too?

Behaviour logging issue is caused by accessing it (blue silhouette with green tick icon) via the Photo register page :\

Two weeks to confirm a problem demonstrated (via a video showing the exact steps to take) right at the start.

Slow again today multiple times.

Hi Strawdog

Thank you for letting others know. I am the one who tested it for you after my colleague asked me to try on my Macbook.

Sorry it was not the quickest response but as mentioned in the case, there are workarounds for this and it affects Windows users as well so I am grateful that you raised it and can be resolved by the software team.

Kind regards,

Bromcom Support

We're having the same issues - but i'm hoping these will calm down soon. We are typically waiting 1hr on phone to get through to support every day to log issues. Some issues aren't even picked up, and have to keep chasing. With our Virtual school, the system simply doesn't do what it was sold to us as and Sims actually did these things previously (simple things like copy attendance from school to school, seeing Year groups for guest students, print a 2-week timetable on one page from student record)

Being able to login during the 8:30-9:30 rush is kinda essential but no longer taken for granted.

:(

We're on inset today, good to know I've still got issues with Bromcom to look forward to tomorrow.

Hi Theblacksheep

I apologise for the issues from this morning, they were resolved shortly after they were first reported. If there was anything else outstanding please PM me with the details.

yep, broken again.

@Bromcom_Support_2

Along with todays, the status page didnt include 31st Oct unusable few hours.

Would like to see the Bromcom status dashboard looked like if you did not include weekends.

Hi @Theblacksheep

Today's temporary drop in performance was due to a Server CPU spike, which was caused by additional monitoring/logging that we put in place for some checks. This unfortunately and unexpectedly created a backlog of requests which began clearing an hour or 2 later from what I can see. We have disabled the additional monitoring to avoid this happening again.

I'm very sorry for any inconvenience you/your colleagues experienced.

Kind regards,

Bromcom Support.

I can see an entry for yesterday, not sure why the platform essentially being completely unusable at the start of the day is only considered a 'minor' fault :\
