Feedback on Viewsonic Touchscreens

Hi,

I'm looking for some feedback on Viewsonic Touchscreens - (Model IFP6550-3 preferably) but just in general really.

We`re early on in our roll out of Touchscreens as a replacement for our IWB\Projector setup, we currently have 3 Clevertouch Impact series screens, (45 Rooms to do) with the Viewsonic boards being cheaper, now is the time to decide which direction to take with Manufacturer.

From our experience, no real criticisms. Just works.

 

BenQ and Viewsonic would probably be my our go to.

Kitted out 2 schools with a mixture of 30 IFP730 / IFP6550 and the only issue is that one blew a PSU in the first month. I thought they would just send out an Engineer with a new PSU but completely swapped out the unit within a week.

 

Compared them with BENQ / Proview and Newline and found them to offer the best pricing and best software solution. They are really good at sending out demo units.

 

One thing I would say is make sure to add the wifi cards to any order ask me how I know!

With the wifi we went with TP-LINK TL-WN725N 150Mbps Wireless-N Nano USB Adapter

 

These are much cheaper than the Viewsonic ones and work perfectly fine.

Hi,

 

We have over 50 ViewSonic IFP boards, majority are the v1, some v2 and recently v3 models.

 

As others have mentioned, they just work! So much so, that we replaced our entire stock of legacy projector / SMART Boards over a 2-year period with ViewSonic.

 

Like anything, each version has brought further improvements (e.g. amount of touch, detection technology, thinner etc) although the v3 no longer has HDMI out, which the previous versions had (if that is a requirement?) and they have a more advanced 'App' package - however, we do not connect any of them directly to the internet.

 

And the v2 had an issue whereby the freeze function would not work for 1680x1050 resolution. This was a hardware / design fault which could not be fixed, so ViewSonic replaced all our v2 with a different model FOC.

While more expensive, the screen specific units do screw in to the devices so curious fingers can't take a liking to them.

Whatever brand route you go down, from experience we are seeing more demand on teacher & ICT training, both hardware and software training IMHO is now a must, as a brand that has come from they days when a touchscreen was a like-for-like PRJ/IWB replacement we've seen every stage of IFP evolution.
