Just been to am office where there's one of these screwed to a shelf (so that it's suspended above it) and the office occupants are complaining it's noisy.

It didn't seem awful (for a fan cooled switch) but I wouldn't like it above my desk either. I don't think the PoE function is in use and it is only to supply the desks in that room - currently only 6 ports are connected. I think it does need to be layer 3. What would people recommend as a fanless replacement?

We mostly seem to be using Aruba switches, although I've seen a bunch of Netgear business grade switches and I know for a major new project the tender includes Cisco, so I don't think we're tied to a particular manufacturer.

TIA

If it is configured for layer 3 but should be able to see in the config.

Have a look at the config, if you can post it here but remove any identifiable information.

A 8 port 2530-8G PoE should be adequate and they are passively cooled but have an external power brick that can get a bit warm.

According to its spec sheet, this switch is L2 plus static routing. Are you sure you wouldn't be able to get away with a bog standard L2 switch? Something like a 2530-8G?
I believed the first link I clicked on Bing. [emoji2357]

How embarrassing

Edit: also embarrassed to be using Bing, but I'm only temporarily using this computer until the Dell technician comes to fix mine so I have left everything on default settings.
